(JaneU White) CYNTHIA VERONA LOVELACE ENGAGED — Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lovelace of the Oak Grove Community of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Cynthia Verona, to Alan Clyde Gordon, son of Mrs. Mary Gordon and the late Datus Gordon of Shelby. The wedding date has not been set. r \ 0 fV Miss White, Mr. Abercrombie Are Wed Webb’s Chapel of Shelby’s First Baptist Church provided the setting Sunday for a 4 p. m. exchange of vows uniting Miss Janell White of Casar and Har ley Abercrombie, Jr. of Shelby. Rev. Graham Brooks officiated at the double- ring ceremony. Mrs. Gary Johnson was or ganist for the program of nuptial music and vocal selections were by Rabph Glenn. Floral arrangements, csmdles, and spiral candelabra were used against a background of palms and greenery. Jerry White escorted his sister to the altar aixl gave her In mar riage. The bride’s wed ding gown was a formal design of white angelsUn peau de sole and French re- embroldered Alencon lace fashioned with long, bishop sleeves and a short overlay of the lace. The bodice was a modified empire design with a full bias cut skirt and attached Chapel length train. A shallow, scooped neckline and the bodice were entirely appllqued with the French lace. The hemline was deeply bordered with the scallc^ed French lace and appllqued In a pyramid design on the front and back of skirt. Smaller appliques were used lavishly on the cuffs and gown. Seed pearls were handsewn go ttie Isoe dsslgnfc Her headpiece was a ap pllqued fingertip desired veil with rolled edge held by a Juliet cap with lace applique and pearls and attached was a hlplength veil. The bride carried a bouquet of cascading white sweetheart roses and baby’s breath. Mrs. E. Pat Rogers of Kings Mountain at tended her sister as matnm of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Rhonda Crawford of Shelby, Mrs. Louie Ledford and Mrs. Gene Crotts, both of Cascu-, cousins of the bride, and Mrs. Terry Aber crombie of Shelby, sister-ln-law of the bridegroom; Flower girls were Miss Almee Rogers of Kings Mountain, cousin of the bride, smd Miss Nicole Martin of Shelby, cousin of the bride. All the attendants wore formal gowns of rust satin enhanced by matching capes of chiffon. The dresses were designed with empire waistlines and spaghetti straps. They carried bouquets of daisies, spiral mums and baby’s breath. The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were ’Terry Abercrombie of Shelby, brother of the bridegroom; E. Pat Rogers of Kings Moun tain, brother-in-law of the bride; Louie Led ford of Casar, ooiuln of the bride; and Tommy Palmer of Burlington. After the ceremony the bride’s parents en tertained at a beautifully - appointed wedding reception In the Ladles Parlor of the church. The bride’s table, overlaid with Imported white lace tablecloth, was enhanced by a silver candelabrum of white candles, white sweetheart roses and greenery. Silver ap pointments held cheese wafers, lemon and pecan tassles, chicken drummettes and mints and open-faced sand wiches. Punch was served from a silver punch bowl at one end of the table. Central high light of the table was a tiered wedding cake which was decorated In the wedding colors. After a wedding trip to Ocean Isle, the newlyweds will be at home at Rlverbend Acres In Shelby.
