Persons who would like to donate gifts to the project may take them to Fields Young, Inc. at 126 N. Morgan St. In Shelby or to one of the green drop boxes located at Nor thwestern, Independence National, First National and First Citizens Banks. In Kings Mountain, boxes are located In the Kings Mountain High School and at First Union National Bank. It Is requested that only new items be donated and that they be unwrapped. Wrapping paper and ribbon may be donated separately. The gifts must be dropped off before Dec. eth. According to Fields Young, ni chairman of the project, "We have made a commitment to the Institu tions to bring twice as many gifts as we brought last year, and last year we took a large truck load of Items. We made this commitment because we have faith In the people of Cleveland County. They have always come through for us In the past." The following list of gifts have been suggeseted by the "Operation Santa Claus" staff; fruit and nuts, soft and stick candy, toys for any age child, cloths of all sizes, cosmetics, books, dolls (especially soft or rubber dolls). Civic or church groups who would like to donate money for larger gifts should make their checks payable to "Operation Santa Claus." , Gifts may* also be donated for the wards. TH€ CHURCHG9 TO SEE LIGHTS Pre-school and school- age children from Second Baptist Church are being treated to a trip through McAdenville to see the world-famous lights and decorations for Christmas. Hie trip is planned for 6:30 p. m., Mon. Dec. 12. Parents are invited to go along and refreshments will be served afterwards. CANTATAPLANNED Second Baptist Church will present its Christmas cantata, “The Joyous News of Christmas,” on Sun., Dec. 18 at 7 p. m. The Youth Christmas program is set for 7:30 p. m.. Wed., Dec. 21. GOSPEL SINGING East Side Baptist Church, York Rd., has sdieduled a gospel singing service Sat., Dec. 10. Fea tured will te the Graves Brothers of Spartanburg, S. C. and the Calvary Crusaders of Gastonia. A love offering will be taken and the public is invited to attend. Selected In Who’s Who Mark Wesley Eaker of Kings Mountain Is among 86 Western Carolina University students selected for Inclusion In the 1877 edition of Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges." Students selected for the high honor are chosen for their outstanding scholar ship, character and qualities of leadership, and on the basis of participa tion In various phases of college life. Eaker Is the captain of the tennis tesun and has been a letterman In tennis for four years. In 1877 he received the tennis team’s Coach's Award. He Is ailso active In football, softball and basketball Intramural sports. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyce E. Eaker of 1020 Weatover Dr. 21 Members Inducted BOILING SPRINGS - The Gardner-Webb College hogior society, Alphg Cbl. has Inducted 21 new members into Its fold. Among those Inducted from this area la: Sallie Catherine Cornwell of Kings Mountain. Alpha Chi Is open to Juniors and seniors with a 8.4 or better average (B+ or better) and who are In the upper ten percent of their graduating class. Alpha Chi members act as marshals at graduation and other official college functions. In addition, they . may submit papers to be ’^ilbllelied or read at regional or national conventions of the Society. Alpha Chi members also compete for scholarships.
