Wednesday. Tates Green, manager, told police he was alone In the convenience store when two men entered, one armed with a pistol, put the pistol to his back and demanded money from the cash register and safe. Green said he gave them about (80 from the register and safe. They then fcroed Wounded Man Is Listed Fair A former Kings Mouitaln man Is listed In fair condition today at Kings Mountain Hospital following surgery last Thursday for a shotgun wnund. Ben Gold Foster, who'ls listed as being a Cherryvllle resident, suffered wounds from a single blast from a 30- gauge shotgun to the upper left stomach area early Thursday morning. The wounded man was vhltlng at the 813 N. Piedmont Ave. home of his son, Ben F. Foster. It was Foster vdio discovered his father wounded and bleeding about 13:40 Thursday morning. Foster told police he had gone out earUer and that his father was there alone. ,Det. Sgt. Richard Reynolds said Officers Richard Byers and Julius Burton responded to the call and that Ben G. Friday. Mr. Brady told officers he was asleep In his truck when he was awakened by a man who pushed a blunt object Into his ribs and demanded his wallet and money. The driver said he followed the mem’s orders and the robber left In a car. Brady provided officers with a N. C. license plate on the car which was checked out to an owner In Charlotte. The car owner had reportedly loemed the car to a man she knew but had not seen him since Monday. Two and one-half hours after the rttobery, Brady called the Sheriff’s Dspartment and reported his wallet, papers and money had been found, officers said. CHARLES F. ROSE, SR. GASTONIA - Funeral services for Charles Flt- shugh Rose, Sr., 78, native of Kings Mountsdn and retired textile machinery salesman, were conducted Friday at 4 p. m. from First Wesleyan Church by Dr. C. Wesley Lovln and Chaplain Eugene Kincaid, Interment following In Gtoston Memorial Park. Mr. Rose died Wed nesday in Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was an active colonel In the Charlotte Squadron of the (JlvU Air Patrol and served as commanding officer of the Gastonia Squadron from 1861 to 1871. He Joined the CAP In 1944. He was a member of First WeKeyan Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. CJlevla Klatler Rose; one son, Charles F. Rose, Jr. of Gastonia; three daughters. Miss Leeann Rose of the home and Mrs. Oarence Myeis and Mrs. Frank Llneberger, Jr., both of Gastonia; one Absentee Ballot Meetings Set The Cleveland (tounty Board of BUectlons has scheduled several meetings In March, April and May to pass on ap plications for absentee ballots. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ina Gertrude Bratton Valentine; three sons, Gerald Valentine, Mearl Valentine and Ernest Valentine, all of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Lawrence and Lonnie Valentine, both of Shelby; tour sisters, Mrs. Hobert Smith of Gastonia, Mrs. Brown Adams at Bessemer City, Mrs. George Hale of Greenville, S. Graveside funeral services were held Saturday at U a. m. from Oakwood Cemetery In Concord. Mrs. Webb died Thur sday at 3:16 p. m. at her home of an apparent heart attack. She was a native of Cabarrus County, daughter of the late WUUam F. and Martiia Morrison Cannon. She and her husband had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Also surviving are their son, Dick Webb of Rich mond, Va., their daughter, Mrs. Jean Webb Neill of Charlotte; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Carman Wilson of Bartow, Fla.; five grand children and one great- grandson. Mr. Hoyle was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Guest Hoyle and a member of Freewill Baptist Church. He retired In 1970 after working 26 years at a naval shipyard In Virginia.
