KM FaUs To Qualify Kings Mountain High's golf season came to an end Monday at Oastonla Municipal In the South western Sectional touma- ntent. None of the Moun taineers scored low enough to qualify for the state tournament next week at Chapel HIU. Junior Darrell Austin led the KMHS effort with a 88- 40—79, missing the In- dlvlduBl cutoff of 76 by three strokes. Mark Sanders shot a 89 42-81, Herbie Beam shot 88-44- 82 and Darrell Forbes shot 40-47 - 87. Mike Howse was dis qualified. Hickory won the team championship with a 806. Other teams qualifying for the sUte tourney Included South Mecklenburg 808, West Mecklenburg 811 and Newton-Oonover 817. The tournament was played In a steady drlxile of rain and sub-60 degree weather on a course which was toughened considera bly by difficult pin placements. SELLING OUT Joey Sadowekl of Hickory won medalist honors In a card playoff with John Hesun of Myers Park. The two Ued with two-over-par 78s.
