Church Of God
Reaching Out
: Ten million contacts for
Christ is the national goal
established by the Church
’ of God for its Sunday
Outreach Campaign April
1-15.
The Kings Mountain
Church of God
congregation is joining
.with other congr^tions
across the nation to reach
this goal, said the Rev.
Jerry A. Smith, pastor.
"A major emphasis of
■the campaign is neigh-
'borliness, Christian
fellowship and community
concern,” Rev. Smith said.'
‘‘‘As the theme - Your
Pentecostal Neighbor -
suggests, we would like to
become better acquainted
jwith our neighbors and
‘have them become better
^acquainted with us.”
Rev. Smith invites
citizens from the com-
jmunity to visit with the
church during this Sunday
School {srogram.

First Car Saleswoman
(Story beglas oa page 1)
for notary service and assistance in
picking up the cars. She returns to
her apartment in Atlanta about once
a month for a visit.
Whether she is ac(iuiring a tag for
a new customer or completing title
work for the purchase, Linda says
she enjoys her job and would
recommend that other women open
their own business. She adds quickly
that to sell a car a man or woman
should ‘‘like people and have
initiative.” He (h: she must also
refrain from a “middle of road at
titude” about the prospective buyer
and must be prepared to spend three
to four months in preliminary work
to set up the business. Obtaining a
location is just the first step. A
dealer must be licensed by the city,
county and state, meet bond
requirements, purchase liability
insurance, register the business,
secure utilities and telephone and
purchase necessary office supplies,
and the cars and trucks to offer to
(he public for sale. There are many
other details to complete, including
arrangements for local financing of
the cars and becoming familiar with
N.C. laws on the use of dealer tags
and etc. and etc.
“Linda’s previous experience in
the business was invaluable,” said
her father, who is a veteran employe
of Pbenix Plant of Burlington In
dustries.
“It would be difficult for me to
return to a 9 to 5 job after going into
business for myself,” said Linda
who also reminds career-minded
women that when they go into
business for themselves “you also
take the problems home with you in
the afternoon and oftimes some of
the bookkeeping chores.”
( A graduate of Kings Mountain
High School, Mrs. Burgess attended
Gaston College and Gulf Coast
Junior College in Panama City, Fla.
What kind of car does Linda
drive?
“I don’t really own one,” she
admits, “but drive a lot of these on
the lot,” pointing to the small and
large used cars and trucks on her
lot. But with the arrival of spring
weather, Linda anticipates that
business at most local car dealer
ships will be brisk.
“Spring fever and car fever go
together,” she said, reporting that
traditionally business in sales pick
iq) in warmer weather.
“And, wouldn’t you like to trade
your ’74 Buick?” she asked. This
reporter had to return to work, very
Inirriedly.
