McGill has joined the firm as an associate. McGill recently . graduated from the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he held the - Touche Ross Tax Law Scholar- ship, and was Treasurer of the Student Bar Foundation, Inc. In May of ‘1982, he also received the Master of Business Ad- ministration (MBA) degree from the School of Business Ad- ministration at UNC. Mcgill graduated with honors in 1978 from Erskine College with a B.S. degree in Business and Economics. He holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in North Carolina and is a member of the North Carolina Associa- tion of CPAs, the American In- stitute Bar Association. He is a contributing author of Contem- porary Marketing textbook and, along with dentist and tax strategist Dr. Charles Blair, is co- editor of the tax column of Den- tal Ecnomics magazine. McGill was formerly JOHN McGILL employed with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C., and with Arthur Young & Company, a national CPA firm. He is President of McGill & Company, CPAs in Charlotte, in which Dr. Blair serves as Tax Manager. He is the son of Dr. and Me. John C. McGill of 703 Hillside Drive. Methodist Women To Hold Meeting The Gastonia District will hold its Annual Meeting at Kings Mountain High School, April 19, 1983. Dinner will be served in the School Cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The meeting will follow in the School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. A new addition to the pro- gram this year is a Mission Fair with books, posters, music and a film depicting the work and ac- complishments of United Methodist Women. Music for the evening will be presented by a combination of members from the choirs of five churches in the Kings Mountain area, directed by Linda Dixon music director of Central United ‘Methodist Church, K.M. Quest Speaker will be Dr. Richard Crowder, Senior Minister, at First United Methodist Church, Gastonia. He is a graduate of Duke Univer- siy, Duke Divinity School and holds an Honorary Doctorate from High Point College. Dr. Crowder has served or is serving on the Conference Board and other agencies including Evangelism, Education and the Division Pastorial Care. “Keep On Keeping On” and “I Believe in Music” are titles of two books written by Dr. Crowder. " Grove, Party Honors Couple Miss Marianna Florestans and Jack White, Jr. of Washington, D.C., who are planning a May wedding, were honored at a din- ner party Friday evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. John C. McGill. Other hosts included Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. John Cheshire, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Franklin, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Fulton, Jr., Mrs. D.F. Hord and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Howard. The McGill home was festive with spring flowers and plants. The thirty-five guests enjoyed punch as they arrived and then found their places in the dining room and at tables in the playroom. Overlaid with a white cut-work and embroidered cloth, the dining room table featured an epergne holding an arrange- ment of pink azalea and dogwood. The buffet table in the family room held an arrange- ment of white dogwood in a brass pitcher. Tables in the playroom were decorated with hurricanes holding ‘mauve candles and arrangements of crabapple blossoms and spirea. Special - guests were the honored couple’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Floristano of Norfolk, Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack White, Sr. Out of town guests were from China Cherryville, Grover, Cullowhee, and Atlanta, Georgia. The hosts remembered the couple with a silver Rivere bowl. Miss Florestano and. Mr. White plan to be married on May 28 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, Virginia. REVIVAL Revival services will begin April 18 at True Gospel Holiness Church. Rev. Mike Summey will ‘be the evangelist. Rev. Jerry Morrow, pastor, invites the public to attend.
