Jane Harrell
Is Graduate
Jane Elizabeth Harrell, grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Haywood E. Lynch of Kings
Mountain, and daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel R. Harrell of
Atlanta, Georgia, graduated
June 11 from the University of
Georgia.
Miss Harrell received her ABJ
degree from the Henry W.
Grady School of Journalism.
Advertising is her major area of
study, with secondary study in
graphic arts.

Completes
Training
Army National Guard Pvt.
Roy J. Rucker, son of Willie T.
Rucker of Rural Route 5 of
Kings Mountain has completed
basic training at Fort Leonard
Wood, Mo.
During the training, students
received instruction in drill and
ceremonies, weapons, map
reading, tactics, history and
traditions.
He is a 1982 graduate of
Kings Mountain Senior High
School.

CLOTHING CLOSET
The Kings Mountain
Woman's Club and Good Earth
Garden Club will begin collec-
ting children’s clothing for a
community clothing closet for
ages kindergarten through fifth
grade. Collections of used
clothing will begin Sat., June 25
from 10 a.m. until noon and
Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
Clothes should be sized and
clean. The Woman’s Club will
collect every Saturday and
Wednesday during July.

DALLAS, N.C. - The Gaston
College Nursing Department has
learned that it is one of the reci-
pients of a grant request of
$78,756 for expenses of a pro-
* gram to assist Licensed Practical

Trustee and Advisory Board of
the Kate B. Reynolds Health
Care Trust was announced to
the college on June 8. The Kate
B. Reynolds Heath Care Trust, a
private foundation located in
Winston-Salem, was created in
1946 for the purpose of improv-
ing health care to the people of
North Carolina. Approximately
$2 million is awarded annually
_in grants to non-profit organiza-
tions throughout the state. The
trust’s current areas of interest
are programs which promote ac-
cess to primary health care; alter-
native health delivery programs

The bride wore a gown of
Candlelight satin. The fitted
bodice of English net overlaid
with Alencon lace motifs re-
embroidered with pearls featured
a Queen Anne neckline and
covered buttons down the back
of the dress. The long fitted
sleeves were caught at the wrist
with tiny covered buttons that
ended in a point over the hand.
The A-line skirt extended from
the natural waist to the deep
border hemline of Alencon lace
that flowed into a semi-
Cathedral train.
The bride’s veil heirloom of
silk candlight illusion attached to
a Juliet cap and covered with
pearls and Alencon lace was edg-
ed with Alencon lace and pearls
that extended into a walking
length train. She carried a
cascade of candlelight roses,
stephanotis and baby’s breath.
A reception was held im-
mediately following the
ceremony at Moonham Library.
It was hosted by the bride’s
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoover Scism of
Spindale greeted guests.
The bride’s table was skirted
with candlelight cloth and
overlaid with candlelight lace. A
center arrangement of lavender
and ivory flowers and ivory
candles decorated the table.
Silver appointments were used in
serving sausage balls, decorated
finger sandwiches, cheeses
rosetts, cream filled pastries,
strawberry delights, mints and
nuts. Punch was served from a

silver punch bowl surrounded
with a garland of greenery. A
similar cloth was used on a
round table which held the five-
tiered wedding cake decorated
with lavender flowers and
greenery and ‘topped with
candlelight satin wedding bells
and silk flowers.
Following a wedding trip to
North Myrtle Beach, S.C., the
couple will live on McDade
Road in Forest City.

The bride’s parents entertain-
ed at a reception following the
wedding. The groom’s parents
hosted the after-rehearsal dinner.
Following a wedding trip, the
couple will reside in Greensboro.
