Superintendent Bill Davis said he had received a number of re- quests, but filling those requests now would overcrowd classrooms. He said nine of the requests involved students from Grover and granting those re- quests “would deplete their enrollment and swell others.” Ten parents are requesting that their kindergarten children eI, Os Vote AGAINST July 19 Positive Action League be allowed to transfer to North School. Four sought transfers to Bethware and three to West. There were no requests for transfers to East or Grover. The board granted all requests received for students in grades one through five. Davis suggested that, if there are openings after school starts, to grant transfers according to the dates the requests were made. His yecorimendation passed 3-1, with board member Bill McDaniel voting against. McDaniel said it was his understanding that when this matter came up once before, the board agreed to require kindergarten students to attend the school in which zone he or she lives. “I feel like if you give part of them a choice, you have to give them all a choice,” McDaniel said. gave greetings to the guests.
