Two Kings Mountain men
were charged with larceny of a
vehicle and damage to property
last week by Kings Mountain
Police.
Charged were Thomas Lee
Biddix of 1131 Grover Road and
Jeffrey Todd McSwain of 1800
Parkdale Circle.
According to police reports,

The merger of Peoples Bank
of North Carolina into First
~ Citizens Bank was consummated
Wednesday.
Peoples Bank of North
Carolina brings assets of $45.9
million and deposits of $41.6
has assets of $1.7 billion and
deposits of $1.5 billion as of
March 31, 1983.
THe merger will add six of-
fices and the five towns of
Madison, ‘King, Walnut Cove,
Dobson and Stokesdale to the
First Citizens’ system, increasing
the bank’s total number of of-
fices to 254 in 120 communities
across North Carolina

personnel will result from the
merger. Joe Marshall, former
president of Peoples Bank, will
assume regional supervisory
responsibilities for the bank’s of-
fices acquired from the merger.
Final consumation came after
a 30-day review by the United
States Justice Department. The
Federal Deposit Insurance Cor-
poration approved the merger
proposal in May. The State
Banking Commission and the
Commissioners of Banks approv-
ed the proposal earlier this year,
as did the shareholders of
Peoples Bank.

Larceny Charges Filed
they allegedly stole a vehicle at
Carolina Basket Company at
405 Margrace Road, and drove
it through a fence at Kings
Mountain High School. Damage
to the fence was $1,500 and
there was $1,000 damage to a
mobile classroom and $800
damage ta steps. There was
$1,000 damage to the truck.
Police reported five other acts
of larceny during the past week:
Todd Hambright of 505 Lan-
ding Street reported the theft of
a drink box valued at $100.
Charlie Sims of 114 Lackey
Street reported the theft of a
lawnmower and garden tiller
valued at $200.
Campbell Lockridge of 830
First Street reported that so-
meone entered his residence by
breaking a padlock off the door.
Nothing was taken.
‘Estelle Miller of 200 Walker
Street reported the theft of a bat-
tery valued at $70.
Maggie Yancey of 615 East
Ridge Stret reproted that she left
her pocketbook on her car in her
carport and someone stole the
pocketbook. The value of the
pocketbook and its contents was
$480.

traffic accidents during the past
week.
Cars driven by Dennis O’Brien
of Indianapolis, Ind., and Allen
Taylor of Gastonia collided Fri-
day at 6:20 p.m. on East King
Street, Damage to Taylor’s car
was $450. There was no damage
to O’Brien’s jeep.
A vehicle operated by Trudy
Whisnant Proctor of Route 6,
Kings Mountain struck a parked
vehicle owned by William
Roberts of Route 5, Kings
Mountain Friday at 10:16 p.m.
at the Deal Street pool. Damage
to Proctor’s 1978 Toyota was
$75. Damage to Roberts’ motor-
cycle was $30.
An unknown vehicle struck a
parked vehicle owned by Harvey
Williams of 1212 Northwoods
Drive Saturday on Ellis Street.
Damage to the car was $200.
A car driven by Leonard Mc-
Coy of Charlotte backed into a
car driven by Nancy Bricker of
Richmond, Va., Monday at
11:38 a.m. in the parking lot of
Hardees. Damage to McCoy’s
carr was $50 and damage to
