Deborah Gail Hammond and David Hugh Lancaster were united in marriage Saturday at 4 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer, S.C. Rev. James E. Ellenburg of- ficiated in the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Ann Couch, organist, Miss Susan Quarles, ‘pianist, and Sam Dickerson and vocal wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Ham- mond of Augusta Road, Pelzer, S.C. She is a 1981 graduate of Clemson University and is a former teacher and coach. She will be employed by Winthrop College as a graduate assistant and head volleyball coach in the fall. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh A. Lan- caster of Maner Road, Kings Mountain. He attended Clemson University and is plant and safe- ty engineer at Kings Mountain Mica Company Inc. RICHARD ALLEN ELMORE (Lisa Leigh Eudy) Eudy-Elmore Couple Speak Vows Saturday Lisa Leigh Eudy of Kernersville and Richard Allen Elmore of Durham exchanged their wedding vows Saturday at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church in Charlotte. . Rev. Mark Key officiated. Robert Atkins was organist for a program of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Eudy of Charlotte. She received an A.B. and M.S.L.S. degree from UNC- Chapel Hill and is librarian at Forsyth County Public Library. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. McGill of Kings Mountain. The groom is the son of Mrs. Myrtle Cox Elmore of Hilton Head Island, S.C. He earned an A.B. degree from Guilford Col- lege and a J.D. from N.C. Cen- tral University. He is in private law practice in Greensboro. Mrs. Cindy Clemmons was the bride’s Matron of Honor and only attendant. Carney J. Bryan V of Forence, S.C., was best man. Ushers were Steven Eudy, the bride’s brother, of Charlotte, and Michael Walker, the groom’s cousin, of Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. M.E. McGill, grandparents of the bride, enter- tained at a reception following the wedding at the church. . Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., and Daytona Beach, Fla., the couple will reside in Kernersville. MRS. JAMES DARRELL VAN DYKE (Kimberly Marcia Lawing) Lawing-Van Dyke Couple Exchange Marriage Vows Kimberly Marcia Lawing and James Darrell Van Dyke ex- ‘changed their marriage vows Saturday at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell. Rev. Dale Matheson of- ficiated. William B. Lindsey, organist, Mrs. Kim Bentley, pianist, and Miss Sherry Waters and Steve Perkins, vocalists, presented a program of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus E. Lawing of 305 Ridge Drive, Mt. Holly. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and attended Gaston College. She is employed by Piedmont Processing Divison of Ti-Caro Industries. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sallie Lee and the late Lonnie Lee, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Law- ing. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James €. Van Dyke of 818 Cleveland Avenue, Kings Mountain. He is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Gardner-Webb College with a B.S. degree in mathematics. He is employed by the Gaston County Board of Education as a teacher at East Gaston High School. He is the grandson of Mary Mode and the late Roy Mode, and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Van Dyke. ; The bride was given in mar- riage by her father. She chose Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michael Fox, who were wed Saturday, are on a wedding trip to Sea Island, Georgia, and afterwards will be home in Rocky Mount. Miss Cheryl Annette Williams became Mr. Fox’s bride in a four oclock formal ceremony in Garner United Methodist Church in Garner. The couple pledged vows before the Rev. Jack W. Rob- bins. Mrs. John Allen Mitchell, III, sister pf the bridegroom, was soloist and Mrs. W.S. Smith, Jr., was organist for the program of traditional music. The altar of the church was enhanced by the simple elegance of cathedral tapers. Alter vases held white gladiolus, white chrysanthemums, pink carna- tions and daisies. A tree branch candelabra was used for the can- dle light ceremony. The organ program included “Now Thank We All Our God,” by Kaif-Eleit; “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee,” by Beethoven; Theme from “Water Music,” by George F. Handel; “Menuetto,” by W.A. Mozart; Theme and Adagio from Partita on “St. Ann,” by Paul Manz; “I Love Thee,” by Edward Grieg; “Toc- cata In D Minor,” by J.S. Bach; “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” by J.S. Bach. Mrs. Smith played “Trumpet Voluntary,” by Jeremiah Clarke and “Bridal Chorus” (Lohengrin), by Richard Wagner, for the Proces- her sister, Mrs. Barbara McGee of Gastonia, as Matron of Honor. Tammy Browning of Mt. Holly was Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Pam Baisden and Mrs. Teresa Ramsey, sisters of the groom from Kings Mountain, Mrs. Cathey Deal, sister of the bride, from Lowell, Pam Finchum, cousin of the bride of Alexis, and Revonda Staton, cousin of the bride, of Iron Station. Jennifer McGee and Alicia McGee, nieces of the bride, were flower girls and Kent Stowe was ring bearer. The bride wore an exquisite candlelight wedding gown of im- ported schiffli lace which featured traditional styling with a natural waistline, high neck and lace yoke. The lace leg-o- mutton sleeves finished the elaborately beaded bodice. The A-line skirt and chapel train was edged with elegant schiffli lace. The bridesmaids gowns were of coral chiffon over taffeta and featured a sweetheart neckline and Lady Di sleeves. Dyed to match imported schiffli lace enhanced the beauty of the neckline. The gowns were ac- cented with satin ribbons at the waist and satin bows on the shoulders. Turn to Page 6-B MRS. JESSE B. CALDWELL III (Gloria Cline Clayton) Clayton-Cladwell Couple Exchange Marriage Vows Gloria Cline Clayton and Jesse B. Caldwell III were mar- ried Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia. Dr. Richard Crowder and Dr. John McWharter officiated at the noon wedding. Mrs. Susan Lesle was organist. Dr. Gary Suggs and Miss Carol Ridge were vocalists. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cline of 110 Delta Street, Lexington. She wore a gown of candlelight silk organza made with a sweetheart neckline trimmed with venice lace and a long-venice lace sleeves, with empire bedice ac- cented with lace appliques. The full skirt was trimmed with an elaborate border of lace. Her chapel length veil of illusion fell from a circular of silk flowers embellisehd with seeded pearls. She carried a crescent bouquet of baby’s breath, red roses, red and pink carnations and silk streamers. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jesse B. Caldwell Jr. of Gastonia. His father served as his best man. Groomsmen were Charles Caldwell and Lawson Caldwell, both of Charlotte, brothers of the bridegroom; and Andy Sykes of Winston-Salem, brother-in- law of the bridegroom. Mrs. Jane Siciloff Stokes was Matron of Honor. Mrs. Martha Caldwell Sykes, sister of the groom, and Miss Pam McAlister of Charlotte were bridesmaids. Foxes On Wedding Trip To Sea Island, Ga. MRS. CHARLES MICHAEL FOX (Cheryl Annette Williams) The bride is a 1973 graduate of Lexington Senior High School and received an A.A. degree in nursing from Gardner-Webb College and R.N. in 1975. She received a B.A. degree in educa- tion and certification in K-3 and 49 from UNCC in 1979. She was a dean’s list student and UNCC where she received her B.S. in nursing in 1980 and also earned a Master’s degree in HD.L. in curriculum and in- struction in health and science education in 1981. She was also an honor student at UNCC. She has taught nursing on the college level and has served in various capacities in nursing at - Gaston Memorial Hospital. Her main area of concentration is cardiology. She has worked in the coronary care unit for four years. She was recently selected to serve as program director of the Gaston County Cardiac Rehabilitation program which is scheduled to begin August 1. She is the recipient of several nursing scholarships. The groom is a 1967 graduate of Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia. He received a ‘B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971. He received his Juris Doc- tor from UNC-CH Law School in 1973. He is a former assitant public defender of 27th Judicial District. He was a member of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity at UNC. Mrs. Mit- chell sang “The Wedding Song,” by Paul Stookey, before the ceremony, and “The Lord’s Prayer,” by Malotte. Kirby Williams escorted his daughter to the alter and gave her in marrage. The bride’s wed- ding gown was a formal gown of silk organza over taffeta. The fitted bodice featured a portrait neckline and shirred organza in a drape effect design defined by Brussels lace. Brussels lace overlaid the bodice. French pouf sleeves had satin rosettes at the shoulders. The full skirt ex- tended to a Chapel Train. A hem-line flouce of crystl pleating was mounted in Brussels lace and encircled the skirt and train. Her wreath veil was made of silk flowers , seed pearls and satin bows with tiny satin ribbons flowing downward. The illusion flowed to walts length with an embroidery design on the edge of the veil. The bride carried a bou- quet of bridal white roses, carna- tions, baby’s breath and stephanotis. Mrs. Jan Hylton of Durham, college roommate of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Susan Fox of Raleigh, Mrs. Dana Mit- chell of Statesville, sisters of the bridgroom; Mrs. Teresa Bryant Turn to Page 7-B
