Mark Wyte came on in relief of Scott Wells in the third and pick- ed up the win. Kings Mountain carried a 7-4 lead into the sixth but had to fight off a South Point rally. Patrick Mauney and Scott Wells led the KM hitting with two hits each. Kings Mountain opened the tourney on July 7 with a 17-8 victory over South Point. KM scored five runs in the third to take a 5-2 lead, added another in the fourth to make it 6-5, and then broke the game open with seven runs in the sixth and four in the seventh. Kevin Bolin had a double and two singles and Patrick Mauney added two singles to lead the KM hitting. The local nine was thrown in- to the loser’s bracket on July 8 with a 124 loss to Gastonia. Kings Mountain led 3-2 after three innings, but Gastonia scored two in the fourth to take the lead for good. Tim Goode, Monty Deaton and Brent Bagwell had a hit apiece for Kings Mountain. Dilling Has 395 Series It was a night of “splits” in mixed league bowling action Tuesday night at the Dilling Heating Lanes. John Dilling’s team split its four-game set with R.W. Hullender and Johnny Dye’s team split its four games with Betty Hullender. : John Dilling was the high scorer for the night, rolling a 143 line and 395 set. Charity Tignor added a 115 line and 311 set. R.W. Hullender had a 132 line and 339 set to lead his team, but close behind was Sara Cash with a 122 line and 337 set. Johnny Dye had a 155 line and Stan Barrett added a 290 set to lead Dye’s team. Betty Hullender le dher team with a 124 line and 344 set. James Herndon added a 333 series and Jack Barrett had a 319.
