Major Leaguers Lose Kings Mountain’s Dixie Youth Major League allstars were eliminated from the District Tournament Monday afternoon by East Lincoln, 10-9. * Bast Lincoln built up a 10-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, when KM struck for eight runs to get within one run. Chris Morris’s single was the big blow in the inning. Kings Mountain held East in the top of the sixth but East retired the local nine in order in the bottom of the sixth to nail down the victory. East Lincoln jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning on a three- run homer by Robbie Dye. Win- ning pitcher Kent Cloninger homered in the third to make it 4-0. Kings Mountain scored its first: run in the bottom of the third when Brian Webster walk- ed and Chris Henson doubled down the rightfield line. Kings Mountain opened tour- nament action Saturday night with a 16-5 win over Dallas. Dale Greene led the KM plate attack with 3-for-3, including a home run and two doubles. Todd McDaniel added a homer and double, Shawn Smith was 3-for-5 with a double, Webster and Jeff Fowler had two hits each and Eddie Moss, Jamie Grigg and Henson had a hit each. Kings Mountain fell to Bessemer City 2-0 Sunday after: noon. Smith and Chris Plonk had doubles and Greene added a single for KM. Football Registration For Youth Scheduled The Kings Mountain Optimist Club will hold registration for youth football July 29 and August 1 at Any youngster between the ages of eight and 13 is eligible to participate. Kings Mountain will sponsor three teams. Persons ages eight, nine and 10 who weigh no more than 85 pounds are eligible for the junior pee wee team. Persons Turn To Page 6-A Thursday.
