Insurance Women Meet The May meeting of Gaston County Association of In- surance Women was held May 8th at 5:30 p.m. at the Western Sizzlin Steak House on Highway 321 North. Jan Wood of Watson’s Insurance Agency received her Certified Profes- sional Insurance Woman designation. The plans for National In- surance Woman’s Week were discussed. The Bosses Coffee will be held at Anytime’s Restaurant on Cox Road in Gastonia on . May 22nd from 8:30 a.m. until 10;30 a.m. The Prospective Members Luncheon will be held at the Nationwide Office at 2242 E. Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia on May 23 from 11;30 until 1:30 p.m. The Insurance Woman of- the Year Luncheon will be held at Anytime’s Restaurant on May 24th at noon. The week will wind up with a cookout on May 25th at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Dot Ruff. The members were in- formed that Mayor John Moss of Kings Mountain and Mayor T. Jeffers of Gastonia had pro- claimed May 20th through May 26th as National Insurance Woman’s Week with May 22nd being designatd as Awareness Day to make the public aware of the dangers of drinking and driv- ing. The new slate of officers was installed. It was determined that nine of the members will be at- tending the state convention in Asheville from May 18th to May 20th. Health Screening Set Monday A free Senior Citizens health screening will be held Monday, May 21, from 9 a.m. un- til 3 p.m. at the Kings Mountain Community Center Gym- nasium. Tests will be given for diabetes, glaucoma, blood pressure, anemia, hearing and tuberculosis. Miss Roberts majored in Special Education. CLASS REUNION The Kings Mountain High School graduating classes of 1944 will hold their 40th year reunion Saturday. at. Central School. Graduates will tour the school at 6 p.m. and have dinner at 7 p.m. Spelling for dollars? No, it isn’t a new game show but what Central School students did during the recent Spell-A-Thon. Students were given a list of 200 words to learn. They col- lected pledges for each word they could learn to spell. Language Arts teachers gave a written test to all students who then collected the pledge money. The Spell-A-Thon was a huge success netting $3,093.84 for the Language Arts Department.
