Jimmy Dickey, of Mountain Builders Supply, said that van- dals cut the main power line into his building (the old Lumber plant near the overhead bridge) and stole $500 worth of copper wire. Other complaints made to KMPD included: Geneva Deaton, 402 S. Cansler St., reported that a kerosene heater and two tires valued at $82 were stolen from her residence. Depot Stop and Go, 315 N. Piedmont Ave., reported that a customer reached in the cash drawer while the attendant had his back turned and took an un- disclosed amount of cash. Betty Eastwood, No. 10 Dixie Trailer Park, reported larceny of $130. William Moore, North Tracy St., reported larceny of hubcaps: valued at $400. Jed Farms, East King St., reported that vandals broke win- dows with BB guns or slingshots and damage was reported at $150. Linda England of No. 19 Dix- ie Trailer Park, reported that so- meone took a VCR and recorder and a gallon jug containing 1,057 pennies from her residence. Terry Towery, 815 First St., reported that someone took a cassette player valued at $65 from his residence. Ollie White, 301 S. Cherokee St., reported that someone took an assortment of personal items valued at $285 from her purse. Thieves took a $10 flashlight from one car and a $2 box of candy from another car parked Register Of Deeds Charged From Page 1-A The indictments charge Rogers with illegally converting cash from the deeds office to her own use on seven days between Dec. 14 and Jan. 9. The amounts cited range from $12 to $27, and total $142. Rogers, elected unopposed in November to a third four year term, resigned her $20,000 per year position Thursday pending the outcome of her case. Gail Allen, a deputy register of deeds since 1974, was appointed acting register of deeds by county com- missioners at their Monday meeting. Rogers had been scheduled for a hearing Jan. 28 to determine if prosecutors had enough evidence to present to a grand jury.
