Paul Wall and Rev. Jerry Hicks, interment following in Cleveland Memorial Park. Mr. Humphries was a native of Cleveland County and son of the late Robert F. and Catherine Peters Hum- phries. He was a retired farmer and a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Bell Humphries; two sons, Robert F. Hum- phries of Harrisburg and Charles Edward Humphries of Route 4, Shelby; two daughters, Evelyn Patrick and Mary Helen Warren of Shelby; a brother, Lyman Humphries of Shelby; four sisters, Helen McDaniel and Mary Bell Cornwell, both of Kings Mountain, and Laura Lee Kennedy and Sara McMurry of Shelby; four grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. ESSIE EAKER Funeral services for Essie Carpenter Eaker, 92, of Route 2, Cherryville, who died Wednesday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted Friday at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of which she was a member, interment following in Cleveland Memorial Park. Rev. Bruce Norwood and Rev. Ralph Lail officiated at the rites. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, she was the daughter of the late James Buchanan and Lou Grigg Carpenter. She was the widow of Oscar Robert Eaker. Surviving are a daughter, Louise E. Grigg of the home; a brother, John F. Carpenter of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ERNEST ROY SMITH Funeral services for Ernest Roy Smith, 75, of Route 2, Bessemer City, who died Thursday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted Sunday at 3 p.m. from Shady Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Silver, inter- ment following in the church cemetery. Mr. Smith was retired from Dixie Lumber Company of Cherryville and was a member of Shady Grove Bap- tist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was son of the late Marion and Viola Neal Smith. Surviving are his wife, Mable Humphries Smith; two sons, Douglas Smith of Bessemer City and David Smith of Cherryville; a daughter, Anne Smith of Bessemer City; two brothers, Leonard Smith of Bessemer City and Russell Smith of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren. He was formerly employed by Kings Mountain National Military Park. (Bob) Rosberg, 52, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Kings Mountain, was shot and killed by a rob- ber who took coins from Rosberg’s Coin Shop March 27th. . Rosberg was working alone in his shop in Arlington at the time and died instantly. Police have no suspects but the Arlington, Texas Bank, at which Mrs. Rosberg is employed, has established a reward fund for information leading to identity of his assailant. Mr. Rosberg was married to the former Ellen Medlin of Kings Mountain, daughter of Mrs. Rosa Medlin who now resides in a Texas nursing home. The Rosbergs and Mrs. Medlin were active in St. Matthews Lutheran Church when they resided in Kings Mountain. Mr. Rosberg is survived, in addition to his wife and his. mother-in-law, by his son, Robbie Rosberg, of Arl- ington, Texas; daughters, Ramona Chambers, Julie Rosberg and Sarah Rosberg, all of Texas; mother, Mrs. Julia Braaa of Hills, Min- nesota; sister, Clara Rahm of Denver, Colorado; and grandson, Thomas Hunter Chambers of Texas.
