Mauney Employees Honored Mauney Hosiery employees were honored for service and for perfect atten- dance at the annual Awards Banquet Monday night at Holiday Inn. Ruth Hughes was presented her 35th year ser- vice award and Victoria Bess, Randy Carpenter, Eulala Doby, Nina Mitchem and Paul Whitley were presented 20 year service awards. Honored with 15 year ser- vice awards were Patti Dye and Susan King. Receiving service awards for 10 years were Shelby Deaton, Mary C. Greene, Helen Hamrick, Bob Ledbet- ter, Catherine Lewis, Jo Ann Lowe, Rocky Martin, Betty Mauney, Kemp Mauney, Elaine Spearman, J.B. Stacey and Bill Suggs. Receiving awards for five years of service were Odell Bates, Donald Bryant, Gloria Burris, Sallie Mae Chambers, Geneva Ellis, Lin- da Harris, Mary Jamerson, Maxine Jones, Martha Mur- phy, Jerry Webster, Ruth Winebarger and Vickie Wright. Honored for 25 years or more continuous services were Ruth Hughes, 35; Henry Belk, 33; Lib Bell, 32; Faye Buckeye Awarded Contract A small business in Kings Mountain is benefiting from defense contracts awarded by the Defense Construction Center (DCSC) of Columbus, Ohio. The Center announced today the award of a contract for $118,353 to Buckeye Fire Equipment Co., 102 In- dustrial Drive, 28086, which will produce fire ex- tinguishers for use by the U.S. military services. With an inventory of over 413,000 items, the Center last year bought over $966 million worth of items that ranged from lumber and wood pro- ducts to plumbing ac- cessories such as pipe, pumps, valves and fittings. Repair parts are purchased for vehicles as simple as commercial trucks and sedans and as complex as military aircraft, ships and submarines. DCSC also buys such major end items as trac- tors, cranes, road machinery, forklifts, and mechanized materials handl- ing equipment. DCSC is a field installation of the Defense Logistics Agency. Washington, D.C. Buckeye has received a contract totaling $173,470 from the Defense Construc- tion Supply Center (DCSC) in Columbus, Ohio. The small business will provide fire ex- tinguishers to U.S. military units around the world. DCSC makes a special ef- fort to award contracts to small and minority and woman-owned businesses. Dye House: Bill Fender, one, and Walter Lewis, three. Finishing: A.J. Jamerson, Lillian Smith, one; Brenda Arrington, Rebecca Carroll, Helen Owens, two; Roberta Brown, Ollie Jane Hicks. three; Rocky Martin, seven, and David Gardner, 12. Office, Debbie Borders, Sylvia Franklin received a certificate for 10 years or more perfect attendance. David Faunce gave the in- vocation and Billy Mauney welcomed the group. Marketing perfect atten- dance presentations were David Ray, Sylvia Franklin, Becky Sanders, Jerry Webster, Bill Fender and Vernie Allran. Presenting service awards were David Faunce and Charles Mauney. Dr. Hoyle L. Whiteside, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Statesville, was the speaker. yr FEAR YOUNGS OPEN CLINIC—Dr. Lamar (Buddy) Young, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Kay Young, of Shelby, have opened Kings Mountain Hearing Clinic at 810 West King Street in the former Plonk Surgical Clinic.
