Page 10B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Wednesday, July 10, 1985 JIM BELT Belt Expands Services Belt Recovery Services, Inc. has Sxpanded into a full- service collection agency at 508 West Main Gastonia. From its small beginning as a repossession company it has moved into all areas of collections. Jim Belt, from whom the company gets its name, is President and Chief Ex- ecutive Officer. He has 14 years experience in law en- forcement and has operated a repossession company for the past three years. Being full service, Belt says, gives added dimension to the company. Those ser- vices range from debt collec- tions, personal contact ser- vice, locator service, repossessions, transport ser- vice and storing and selling of recovered collateral. “Some of the things that set us apart,” Belt said, “is the fact that, even though we are located in Gastonia, we are very familiar with the Kings Mountain area and have the personnel and resources to handle accounts in this ara. Our personalized service goes straight to the debt source, even if it requires knocking on doors. Work begins on claims within 24 -hours of receipt.” Ave., The company is licensed by the state, bonded and in- sured. “You assume no risk when you assign collection ac- counts to us,” Belt added. ‘If we don’t collect, you don’t pay.” Red Cross To Notify Positives American Red Cross Blood Services, Carolinas Region will begin notifying blood donors who have repeatedly positive results to the HTLV- III antibody test. The test, routinely per- formed on all blood dona- tions, detects the presence of antibodies to HTLV-III (human T-cell leukemia virus - type 3), the virus associated with AIDS (ac- quired immune deficiency syndrome). Since the test was im- plemented in the 56-county Carolinas Region on April 1, 1985, more than 62,000 units of blood have been tested. So far, .02 percent are repeated- ly positive. “We've always felt that the Carolinas Region is a low-risk area,” said Dr. Jerry Squires, director of American Red Cross Blood Services Carolinas Region. “The test statistics confirm this fact.” A repeatedly positive test result means the blood unit has been tested three times by Red Cross, then sent to an independent laboratory for two additional tests. A repeatedly positive test result means the person most likely has been exposed to the HTLV-III virus. But, it does not mean the person has AIDS, will get AIDS, or car- ries the AIDS virus. Donors with repeatedly positive test results will be notified by mail. The letter encourages the donor to seek medical advice from his or her physician. Donors with repeatedly positive HTLV-III test results will be confidentially and per- manently deferred from donating blood.
