a Ay Kg A ls Page 8C-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, August 22, 1985 Fair Scheduled In September The 38th annual Bethware Community Fair will be held Sept. 2-7 on the grounds of Bethware School and plans for the event are underway by the sponsoring Bethware Progressive Club. A big barbecue will kick off Fair Week and will be held on Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Bethware School. Tickets are on sale at $3.50 from any member of the club, says Progressive Club Presi- dent Glenn Hicks. Fair catalogs and premium lists were distributed to fair advertisers and patrons this week. The fair catalog includ- ed a dedication to the late Frank Hamrick, who died Feb. 12, who was long active in the Progressive Club. The book also contains a picture of Miss Bethware Fair 1985, Edie Hicks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hicks. As Customary, cash prizes will go to exhibitors. Hardin Amusements will provide rides on the midway and con- cessions will be operated b Bethware Progressive Clu with drawings on Friday and Saturday nights for $100 cash. Tractorpull rigs will be ex- hibited by Roger Goforth and Berry Brothers and an ex- hibit of farm machinery will be featured. Fair exhibits will include canned items, pry and dairy s Supmliss, ousehold arts, lower department, arts, ll and hobbies. Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones is chairman of the com- mittee on entries which in- cludes Mrs. Vivian Lovelace, Miss Gwen Hicks, Mrs. Joan Harmon, Mrs. Susan Put- nam, Mrs. Carolyn Hicks, Mrs. Barbara Crotts and Mrs. Nadine Davis. Family nights are Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 6 iries will be received in the Bethware gymnasium on Monday, Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Fair will open at 6 p.m. each day Monday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 7. The fair will close at midnight on Sept. 7th. There will be draw- ings for prizes nightly. Albert M. Allran, former ac- ting president of Lenoir- Rhyne College was the com- mencement speaker. Lenoir-Rhyne is a four- year liberal arts college own- ed and operated by the North Carolina Synod of the Lutheran Church in America. Schronce is the daughter of C.E. and Pat Schronce. Distribution Is Scheduled A meeting of all Senior Citizens and church groups interested in participating in the September Commodity Food Distribution has been scheduled for August 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the County Of- fice Building Auditorium. Each group must have a representative present if they wish to participate. The September distribution date has tentatively been set for September 18th at the Ar- mory in Shelby, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department; John Grant, parking admissions superintendent; Howard H.
