For the game, the Mountaineers managed only 91 yards rushing. Leading rusher Jerry Jordan was limited to 36 yards for the game and only three in the second half. The Pisgah defense broke through the line to throw KM backs for losses eight times. Fullbacks Hollifield and Sam Smith were the only KM backs to have plus yardage on every carry. Pisgah also defensed well against the KM passing attack. The Mounties hit only one of night because of excellent short coverage by the Bears. The victory was the first post-season playoff win for a KMHS football team since 1956, when the Mountaineers edged Lenoir 7-6 for the Western Association championship.
