VIVIAN WARE Vivian Ware Celebrates On Her 85th Birthday It was a happy birthday surprise party October 26th, just two days before Vivian Summitt Ware was 85 years old. The immediate family and relatives; and a few close friends joined together to share their supper in honor of the occasion. The Depot was beautifully arranged with white table cloths and table runners bearing Happy Birthday down the center of each. The floral arrangements were in - shades of pale blue, green to bright shades of pink and lavender. : Over the rear exit door hung 2 huge banner of the rainbow and all around it it read ‘‘Surprise, Surpise, Sur- prise’’-Vivian Summitt Ware. Happy Birthday October 28, 1900 ] The main attraction was the centered cake table; bearing the birthday cake 14x28x20 high. The two cakes below and the second tier cake were all decorated in roses of shades of pink and le yellow and matching owers of blue and lavendar. Candles decorated each cake and burning brightly the 85 could be seen on top of the lovely cake. The theme for the party was two fold. ‘‘Somewhere over the rainbow’’ and “I'm forever blowing bubbles’. The intent was to insist Mrs. Ware play a little Rinkey Dink piano tunes, but she was so over come with the sur- prise of it all; we asked a very accomplished pianist to smooth her nerves; Mary Hart roberts. So she played the beautiful music. Out of town relatives were: Mr. and Mrs. William Early, Laura, and Eric of Shelby. Kim Early from Clemson College, S.C., Annie Laura Summitt, Estella Short, daughter, Jewell and her two children all of Charlotte. Jim Short of California and Shelby. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roberts of Forest City, Mag- gie Short, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Short all of Ellenboro. Mrs. Ware was lead to believe by her grandson Larry Ware and wife Lesa, they were taking her out to supper. Some friends of theirs were having a party at the Depot and they were to drop in to see them. Drop in they did. Mrs. Ware insisting on letting them go alone, but they weren’t going without her. It was a surprise. Mrs. Ware said “This place sure is decorated pretty” and she still didn’t know until the group sang Happy Birthday to her. It was her party. “We want to take this op- portunity to thank each and every one who shared in mak- ing this a beautiful occasion for the food was excellent, and the gift table held so many lovely things. These nice memories mother will enjoy as she reflects back on it all”, said her children. Dr. Gibson To Speak At NAACP Meeting Dr. William F.
