RTT Dr. Eric Faust, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will deliver the bac- calaureate sermon Sunday night at 7 p.m. as commence- ment exercises begin for 260 graduating seniors of Kings Mountain Senior High School. i; Uiplomas will be presented the Class of 1986 at 7 p.m. Tuesday night. Both programs will be held in John Gamble Football Stadium. Other ministers of the com- munity will assist on the pro- gram Sunday evening. Rev. George D. Simmons, pastor of East Gold Street Wesleyan Church, will give the invoca- tion; Rev. Nancy Brown, pastor of Adams Chapel AME Zion Church, will read the scripture; Rev. Elwood M. Roberts, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church of Harris, will introduce the speaker and Mrs. Betty Jenkins, pastor of Revivals for Jesus, will pro- nounce the benediction. The Kings Mountain Choral Union, under the direction of Eugene Bumgardner with Mrs. Lynn Echols as pianist, will sing “Jubilate Deo” by Emily Crocker and “Go Ye Now In Peace” by Joyce Eilers. The Class of 1986 officers will lead the graduation exer- cises on Tuesday evening. Patrick Spencer Hamrick, President of the Student Par- ticipation Organization, will give the welcome; Edie Herndon, president of the Class of 1986, will present members of the graduating class; Lisa Ann Rhyne, class secretary, will recognize honor graduates; Patricia Lynn McGinnis, class treasurer, will present the class gift and Susan Darlene Moore, class vice president, will pronounce the benedic- tion. Diplomas will be presented by Principal Ronnie Wilson, assisted by Supt. William Davis, ; Faust, Chief Marshal. W.B. McDaniel, chairman of the KM District Board of Educa- tion, will accept the class gift on behalf of the school board. The Kings Mountain Senior High Choral Union will sing “We Wish For You” by John Carter and ‘Encore’ by Carl Nygard, Jr. Music will be under the direction cf Eugene C. Bumgardner, Director of KMSHS Choir, and Mrs. Sarah Cole, Director of KM Junior High Ninth Grade Band. Kings Mountain is” the only high school in North Carolina that sponsors a fund drive for the American Cancer Society. Baker said that since 1982, KMHS students have raised over $11,000 for cancer research. “This was a whole school effort,” he said. ‘We feel like it is outstanding that the students went over $3,000 for the se- cond straight year. It shows they care about their fellow man. Hamrick’s portfolio is In- dividual Development which includes responsibility for personal growth programs, family and spiritual develop- ment, governmental affairs, state model legislature, and an individual development college. Hamrick has been in- volved in the local Kings Mountain Jaycees since 1978 and has recently served the North Carolina Jaycees since 1978 and has recently served the North Carolina Jaycees as a District Director and a Regional Director. More than 1,000 Jaycees from across the state attend- ed the recent year-end con- vention held in Charlotte where Hamrick was elected.
