Norn Caroli Jehmen, i 0 Se Rev. and Mrs. Jolley have ALLEN JOLLEY Baptists To Honor Rev. Jolley First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain invites the Kings Mountain community to a special event. On September 21 at 3 p.m. there will be a sacred music recital in honor of Rev. and Mrs. R. Allen Jolley. The recital will be given by the church organist, Mrs. Ellen Elam, and church pianist, Mrs. Nor- ma Pettus. Rev. Jolley, who recently announced his retirement, has served as minister of music and education of First Baptist Church for over 25 years. Following the recital a reception for the Jolleys will be given in the church fellowship hall. After their retirement, Rev. & Mrs. Jolley will be relocating to their childhood community of Mt. Pleasant, near Boiling Springs. The house in which they will live is located on land that belong- ed to Rev. Jolley’s parents. While in Kin, ountain, Rev. Jolley has been active in numerous community and denominational activities, in- cluding serving as a past president of the Kings Moun- tain Ministerial Association. Also he has been an active and Suing member of the two daughters, and one granddaughter. Their daughter, Gay Jolley, is a high school teacher in the Gastonia School System. Their younger daughter, Joy, is married to Paul Shuman. The Shumans, including granddaughter, Melissa, reside in Kansas City, Kan- sas. Larcenies Reported City police are in- vestigating several reports of larceny. Two batteries were remov- ed from trucks at City of Kings Mountain Garage, bat- tery cables and a portable handsaw were stolen, estimated value $609. North School officials reported that several outdoor mats were stolen during a break-in at the school. Kenneth Carpenter, 520 Phenix St., reported that van- dals broke the glass in the back window of his 1963 Ford while parked at 2027 Red- wood Circle. Kenneth Massagee, 135 McGinnis St., and Margaret Reese, 206 N. Piedmont Ave., reported stolen bikes. Timmy Elswick, No. 20 Dixie Trailer Park, reported that someone took three cans of beer from his refrigerator. Violet Johnson, 404 Tate Terrace, reported a stolen tag, No. YZY 603. Alexander Realty, N. Sims St., reported the theft of a weedeater, valued at $150, from an out building. Food Lion Stores, Shelby Road, reported that a shoplifter took four cartons of cigarettes valued at $32. Eleven-year-old William Lee Taylor, of 607 Mauney Ave., was injured Friday when he was struck by a car on East King Street. City officers said that Taylor, who was riding his bicycle, crossed the street in front of a 1984 Subaru operated by Katherine Ross, Route 1, Shelby. Taylor was taken to a local doctor’s of- fice for treatment. Damage to the car and bike were estimated at $25 each. Tammy Bumgardner, operating a 1982 Pontiac which was damaged $50, struck a 1973 Chevrolet operated by Christa Byers of Grover in the KMSHS park- ing lot, doing $400 damage to the Byers vehicle. Richard Lovelace, of Dover, Fla., operating a 1984 Ford which was damaged $200, struck a 1982 Toyota operated by Martha Farmer, 1307 Northwoods Dr., on York Road. John Barnes, Route 1, operating a 1984 Toyota which was damaged $50, struck a 1984 Ford, which was damaged $250, and operated by Donald Grant, Jr. of Gastonia. The accident oc- curred in the Dareing lot at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
