Rev. Dick Boles, retired Presbyterian minister, of- ficiated at the private, double ring ceremony attended by family members and close friends at the home of the bridegroom. The couple spoke their vows before the fireplace in the living room arranged with red roses, candles and greenery. The bride wore a red velvet dress. Her only at- tendants were her two daughters, Sabrine Stone, age three, and Kristie Stone age two. The bride and bridegroom were married on Kristie Stone’s second birth- day. The newlyweds have returned from a wedding trip to Daytona Beach and the Florida Keys and are residing in Kings Mountain. The bride is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Clarence H. Wood of Kings Mountain. The bridegroom is the son of Mr.and Mrs. John Ellis Zimmerman,Sr. of Valdese. He is president of Drug-Rite Drug Stores of Drexel and pharmacist at Griffin Drug- Rite in Kings Mountain. MRS. MARCUS PARENTI Parentis Married Sunday At Mary’s Grove Church Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church was the setting Sunday for a 3 p.m. wedding uniting Miss Paula Denise Putnam and Marcus Anthony Parenti in mar- Plage. The couple pledged vows of the double-ring ceremony before the Rev. Howard Kiser. Mrs. Mary Etta Crane was organist for the program of ' “traditional “wedding = musie: "and Mrs. Grace Costner was MR. AND MRS. CHARLIE COBB Mr. And Mrs. Charlie Cobb Honored On 50th Anniversary Mr.and Mrs. Charlie Cobb were honored on their Golden Wedding Day Sunday at a reception from 3 until 5 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall. Hosts were their children, Helen Cobb Sisk, Douglas Cobb, Michael Cobb, all of Kings Mountain, Buddy Cobb of Georgia, Mitchell Cobb of Gastonia and Freida Cobb of Bessemer City; the 19 grand- children and two great- grandchildren, The Christmas red and green motif, along with the golden anniversary theme, was used throughout the hall. Brass candelabras set with red tapers, white roses, mini red carnations, pine, holly and red poinsettias decorated the refreshment and gift tables and were used in the background and on the piano. The anniversary cake was topped with red mini carna- tions and baby’s breaths and bells and decorated by their daughter-in-law, Rita Cobb, in a pedestal design. Red punch was served from a silver bowl at one end of the table and silver trays held nuts, mnts, ham and cream cheese rolls, cheese daisies and vegetable sandwiches. Brass appointments com- pleted the setting. A lace cloth overlaid the long tables and the refreshment table was decorated in red over white with red velvet and . pearl bows at the corners. Mrs. Cobb wore a beige dress with Queen Anne collar and a corsage of red mini car- nations, Eula Mae Oliver and Charlie Cobb were married Dec. 5, 1936. Both are retired from Burlington Mills Phenix Plant and they are active in First Wesleyan Church. Several hundred friends and relatives called during reception hours. vocal soloist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Best man for the bridegroom was Thomas W. O’Brien of Virginia Beach, Va. Mrs. Tammra Dalton of Virginia Beach,Va. was the bride’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ann Kinney of Charlotte, Miss Joy E. Brownlow of Charlotte, Miss Rachel Parenti of Bel- mont. Ushers were Alan Putnam of Kings Mountain and Kevin E. Banks and David L. Cook, both of Virginia Beach, Va. Mrs. Beverly Gettys of Shelby presided at the register. The bride’s parents enter- tained after the ceremony at a beautifully appointed reception in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Parenti is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Paul R. Putnam of Kings Moun- “fain She'is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with B. S. in Nur- sing and is a registered nurse on the staff of Orthopaedic Hospital of Charlotte. The bridegroom is the son of Mr.and Mrs. Joseph P. Parenti of Sanford. He is a 1981 graduate of North View High School of Dothan,Ala. and is a Navy Nuclear Power Electrician aboard the USS Mississippi. After a wedding trip to Saratoga,New York,the newlyweds will be at home in Charleston, South Carolina. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED-Mr.and Mrs. Philip Witherspoon of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Wanda Lynn, to Darrell Wayne Whetstine,son of Mr.and Mrs. Ed Babb of Kings Mountain. The bride-elect is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and a 1986 graduate of Wingate College with B.S. in a double major of Human Services and Psychology. The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of KMSHS, holds a B.S. in Psychology from Western Carolina University and a Master's in Education from Win- throp College. STEVEN MIZELLE Terry Morrow, Steve Mizelle Exchange Vows On November 1 Temple Baptist Church was the setting Nov. 1 for the wedding of Miss Terry Michele Morrow and Steven Andrew Mizelle. The Rev. J.C. Goare of- ficiated at the double-ring ceremony which included the lighting of the unity candle. Mrs. Frances Lail of Kings Mountain was organist for the program of traditional music and vocal numbers were by Mrs. Lynn Echols. Mrs. Echols sang ‘“‘God, A Woman and Man”. “Whither Thou Goest’’, and the benedictional ‘‘Wedding Prayer”. After the exchange of vows, the bride presented red roses to her mother and the bridegroom’s mother. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her wedding gown was a formal design of candellight satin and embossed lace. The scoop neckline, three quarter length sleeves and dropped waistline were enhanced by lace scallops and scallops of pearls and lace held her fingertip veil of illusion. She carried a bouquet of Royal blue iris and light blue sweetheart roses, ivory car- nations, royal blue orchids, baby’s breath and ivory lace ribbon. ’ Mrs. Karen Goodman of Lexington attended her sister - as matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Cherie Mizelle of Fayet- teville, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Kim Deveney of Kings Mountain, niece of the bride, and Miss Clover Grooms of Summer- niece of the bridegroom. . Kathryn Morrow, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a long candlelight gown styled identically to the bride’s ti and made by her mother, Mrs. Avis Mor- row. Tommy Morrow, nephew of the bride, carried the rings. Ushers were Charles Mor- row of Kings Mountain and Dennis Forcier and Larry Richards, both of Myrtle BeachS.C. = The bride’s parents enter- tained after the ceremony at a reception in the church fellowship hall where the wedding colors of blue and white were featured in decorative details. The bride’s table, highlight of decoration, held the three- tier royal blue and white cake topped with crystal swans and wedding bells in a heart design. The cake was cut and served with punch and refreshments by Mrs. Avis Morrow, Mrs. Gina Grahl and Mrs. Debbie Smith. Out-of-town guests were Elwood Braunbeck,Jr. and Mrs. Ruby Braunbeck of Atlanta ,Ga., grandmother of the bridegroom; Paul Braunbeck of Glenndale,Arizona; Jenny Cooke of Garden City,S.C., Diane Spicer of Mooresboro, Lisa Jernigan of Shelby; Mike and Kathy Grooms and Heather Grooms of Summer- ville,S.C., Ed Webber of Fayetteville and John and Georgia Mizelle of Locust. The bride is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Thomas F. Mor- row of Kings Mountain and granddaughter of Mrs. Nola Morrow and the late Frank Morrow and Mr.and Mrs. E. B. Cooke, all of Kings Moun- tain. The bride has worked with the Kings Mountain Little Theatre and the Myrtle Beach Little Theatre. She is a 1975 graduate of Kings Moun- tain Senior High School. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Jane Webber of Fayetteville and Paul Braunbeck of Glenndale,Arizona and step- son of John Mizelle of Locust. He is a 1974 graduate of Socastee High School in Socastee,S.C. and owns and Opouates Mizelle Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. in Myrtle Beach,S.C. He attends the University of South Carolina at Myrtle Beach. The newlyweds have returned from a wedding trip to Caymans Island and are residing at Oak Hill in Mur- rell’s Inlet, S. C. Wedding Invitations Are Issued Mr.and Mrs. Thomas Robinson, Jr. of Gastonia, formerly of Kings Mountain, have issued wedding invita- tions to friends and relatives to attend the wedding of their daughter, Marcia Kim, and Douglas John Sincox. The wedding will take place Saturday, Dec.27th, at 11 a.m. in Parkwood Baptist Church, 1719 Garrison Boulevard, Gastonia.
