Early recall ed that Bumgardner had a dinner each summer and in- vited all his relatives and friends who worked with him at Hazel, Austin, John and Bessie Bumgardner; Ken Jenkins, who is pictured beside Early; Whitney Wells, Sybil Sanders, Aaron Lee Wells and others. Early said the model T Ford his family drove to the reunion wouldn’t climb the steep hill at the York Road mountain gap, and they had to Muench Named VP At School Jeffrey Emmett Muench, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence W. Muench of 310 Downing Dr. in Kings Mountain, has been elected the 1987 Second Vice President of the Student Government Association of North Carolina Governor’s School East. Jeff, a rising junior at Kings Mountain Senior High School, is study- ing Choral Music while atten- ding the Governor’s School. The North Carolina Gover- nor’s School East, located on the campus of St. Andrews Presbyterian college in Laurinburg, is a summer residential honors program designed to supplement the public school education of 400 gifted ‘and talented high school students from across the state. While at the school, each student completes a pro- gram that includes intensive study of an academic subject or advanced training in a visual or performing art. Each student also is provided instruction in philosophy and applied psychology. The Governor’s School is in ses- sion through August 1. The Ormand reu- nion is also known as ‘The Old Furnace Picnic’ and ranks among the oldest con- secutive reunions in America. About 300 relatives bring a picnic lunch and gather each year for the reunion, travel- ing from all over the United States. Rev. Ben F. Ormand has performed extensive work on the genealogy of the descendants of James Or- mand, and has publish a book entitled ‘Ormand History and Descendants of James Ormand, Sr. (1669-1766) A press, Inc.; Greenville, S.C.
