Under the leadership of the three Drs. Jones, it has grown from a small college with about 100 students to the largest independent fun- damental Christian institu- tion in the world. Now, the university ‘annually enrolls thousands of students from Former The Reverend David L. Castor, director of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of the North Carolina Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, returns to Resurrection Lutheran, his former pastorate, this Sunday, to share with the people the pro- gram of Outdoor Ministries. In addition to preaching to all parts of the world, he has conducted tours to the Holy Land and Europe. He has acted the lead roles in many Shakespearean plays produc- ed by the BJU Classic Players, and has had major parts in several Unusual Films productions, among them them full-length, award-winning Christian film, “Wine of Morning’’, “Red Runs the River’, and “Flame in the Wind.” Well known for his outspoken religious and ethical convictions, Dr.Jones was selected to represent na- tionally the view of fun damentalist Christians on educational television. The National Association of Evangelicals is composed of 46,000 churches from 70 denominations and includes more than 200 other organiza- tions. The NAE serves about 15 million evangelicals. There are many evangelical churches and para-church organiza- tions who look to the NAE for leadership. The movement will remain strong because it is a local church centered organization. True, this has been a painful time for evangelicals. Stories about fund raisin, seamy sex- ual sins, and hush money have become front-page news, tain- ting religious broadcasting in general through guilt by association. It should be remembered that these shameful events include less than a half dozen highly visable religious personalities. It is time these questionable leaders identified as evengelicals become accountable and responsible or disassociate their ministry from the evangelical movement. The NAE includes many of the great organizations of our day, such as the Evangelical Council for Financial Accoun- tability, National Religious Broadcasters, American Bible Society, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Prison Fellowship, World Vision, ministries. and many other credible When you speak of Evangelicals, you are talking about a movement of Bible believing Christians.
