might have too much in-
fluence on it, and I urge the
board to adopt a resolution to
the effect that it will not
adopt this form of govern-
ment or install a city
manager prior to the new ad-
ministration coming in in
December,” he said.
Larry Hamrick Sr. also
commended the present ad-
ministration and those of the
past 20 years ‘‘for the pro-
gress that Kings Mountain
has experienced under our
present form of
government.’ However,
Hamrick added, in order to
be prepared for the future
the city should “turn to the
city manager-council form of
government. We're looking
to a lot of prosperity and we
can best be prepared with a
professional, business-like
form of government which
we can get through the
manager-council system.”
Don Crawford, president of
the Kings Mountain Board of
Realtors, said he had polled
his membership and the
board endorses the proposed
change of government. °

NORMAN KING
I am a candidate for Mayor of the City of Kings Mountain and I would
like to introduce myself to you.
For over twenty-two years I have been involved in City Government as
District Four Commissioner. My experience in initiating and implemen-
ting beneficial improvements has given me a sincere desire to serve the
City in a more active position.
As you are aware, the City is considering the City-Manager form of
government. In anticipation of the change, there must be a transitional
period. My experience would be advantageous tn making a smooth and
successful change-over.
My best asset is my family, and I would like vou to meet them briefly. I
am proud to say that every member attended and graduated from Kings
Mountain District Schools including my wife, the former Ruth Ware. My
wife and three oldest children are also graduates of Gardner-Webb Col
ege.
My daughter Norma is married to teacher John Pettus and is mother of
Kings Mountain Junior High School student Shawn. She 1s employed by
Southern Bell and serves as a pianist of First Baptist Church.
