In it, Mr. Baker expressed his dissatisfaction with the efforts made by certain organized businessmen in town to sway the voters of Kings Mountain to their candidates. I agree with what Mr. Baker said, I, too, can make up my mind in the October 6th election concerning whom to vote for. I only hope that the other voters in Kings Mountain will not allow this group to tell them how to vote. a : : Fe Sincerely Yours, ~ Larry M. Adam Editorial Vote Tuesday Kings Mountain citizens will go to the polls Tuesday to elect a Mayor and three members of the city council. The Herald has a long standing policy of not endorsing can- didates on the local level. We won’t break that policy this year. However, Tuesday’s election is probably more important to Kings Mountain citizens than any other election in recent memory. The new administration still set the policy for a brand new city manager-city council form of government and when citizens go to the polls next week they will be electing a new Mayor for the first time since John Henry Moss was elected Mayor 22 years ago. The addition of two incumbent Somistioners in the mayor’s race will be on the six-member ard. The three people on the city board to be elected Tuesday will have half the voting power on the board of commis- sioners. They should be elected by a majority—-not a minority, of the voters. The new Mayor should be elected by a majority - not a minority - of the voters. : There are important decisions to be made and important programs to be carried out that will touch every citizen of Kings Mountain. Chances are those decisions will not satisfy every citizen. And, chances are the most dissatisfied will be the very ones who stay at home. Go to the polls Tuesday and “vote.
