JIM TESTA USED CARS AND TRUCKS Jo McCreary, feature reporter for WSOC TV, Charlotte, will preside at a "Family Read-Aloud" Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at Gaston County Public Library. She will headline a group of celebrities who will read during "Night Of A Thousand Stars," a program during National Library Week. The program is free and is a family event, open to the public. Among local "celebrities" who will read aloud are Dr. James Forrester, Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners and his wife, Mary Frances, who is active in many community organi- zations; John Daniel Coe, local country singer/musician and recording artist; District Attorney Calvin Hamrick; Mayor James Garland and his wife, Betsy; Senator Marshall Rauch; Leanne Webb, Executive Director of the United Arts Council of Gaston Coty; Jon Segal, Publisher of the Gaston Gazette; Beth Sanders, Administrator of the Little Theatre of Gastonia; Jennie Stultz, Director Quilts Exhibit Planned The April exhibit in the Museum Gallery located on the first floor adjacent to the Museum Gift Shop at the Cleveland County Historical Museum will be "The Romance of the Quilts", a collection of quilts and quilted items, some over 100 years old, that have been gathered from not only the local collectors and the Museum's collection, but also from the Foothills Quilters Guild, the Three Rivers Quilters Guild (in Stanly County), and the Albemarle/Stanly County Historical Museum. Lasting through April, the exhibit can be seen during regular Museum hours. Museum hours are 10-5 on Tuesday-Friday and 10-2 on Saturday. Admission is free. The Museum is located in the Old Courthouse in the middle of the Courtsquare in Shelby. RESCHEDULED The April 6 visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile originally scheduled for First Baptist Church in Grover will be held, instead, at Zion Baptist Church under sponsorship of Shane Cooper Boy Scout Troop 50. Donors will be processed from 2 until 6 p. m. WORKSHOP The Gaston Conservation District is looking for a rising ju- nior or senior high school student from Gaston County to attend a natural resource workshop in Raleigh June 24-29. Registration fees and meals will be paid by the Gaston Conservation District. If you are interested, call 704-922- 4181 between 8-5 p.m. AARP PROGRAM George Poole of Raleigh spoke on "Crime Against Elderly" at Tuesday's meeting of Kings Mountain AARP at the Senior Center.
