A joy ride through six states by
© two teenagers from Ohio ended in
* Kings Mountain Thursday with a
hit and skip accident that injured a
motorcyclist.
Ronnie Lee Johnson Jr., 16, of
338 Charity St., Bethel, Ohio, is in
Cleveland County Jail where he is
being held in lieu of $5,000 bond
for felony auto theft.
His companion, a 14-year-old

was held September 15. The chil-

decorated Barbie cake, pizza and
ice cream from 4-6 p.m. Treat box-

That evening the girls held a
“slumber party and painted t-shirts
and strung glass beads to make
necklaces.

She weighed six pounds, six
ounces and was 18 inches long.
Reagan has two sisters, Morgan
Neely, 6 1/2, and Jordan Michelle,
31/2.
Reagan is the granddaughter of
Bill and Gail Childers of
Cartersville, GA., James and Pat
Childers and Terri Johnson, all of
Kings Mountain, and Ralph and
Linda Shirkey of Seneca, SC. She
is the great-granddaughter of Neely
Keeter Shirkey of Mooresville and
Doris Johnson of Kings Mountain.

tion center in Shelby.
Police say the two boys will
probably be returned to Ohio
where the older boy has a lengthy
record with the Clearmont County
Juvenile System.
Ohio Police Chief George
Schramm said the two boys
skipped school last Wednesday,
telling relatives they were headed
for Ohio's Brown County Fair.
Instead, they reportedly spotted an
unlocked white Chevrolet pickup
in the parking lot of the Village of
Bethel's water department and
found the keys over the sun visor
and drove it off.
According to the Chief the truck
was not reported as being stolen
until Thursday because more than
one worker uses the vehicle "and
everyone else thought the other
person had it." The Village of
Bethel is a town of about 2,000
people in Bethel, Ohio

Six-state joy ride lands teens in jail
In Kings Mountain Thursday
Johnson was driving west on King
Street, ran the stop light and struck
a motorcycle traveling south on
Gaston Street. Travis Leon Bess,
26, of 919 Grace St., Apt. C, was
knocked off the bike and was treat-
ed and released at Cleveland
Memorial Hospital.
Kings Mountain Police said the
two juveniles skipped the wreck
scene and then abandoned the truck
in a church parking lot.
Officers apprehended the youths
in Gaffney, SC and Johnson
waived extradition. A hearing was
held in Cleveland County District
Court Monday.
