Page 2A Obituaries THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD IVEY RANDALL Ivey Randall, 84; 401 Cherokee Street, Kings Mountain, died October 7, 1996 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Lee and Mandy Dellinger Randall. He'was a retired textile employ- ee and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Gastonia. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Rebecca Jenkins Randall of Kings Mountain; and two nieces, Gwen Watts of Kings Mountain and Shirley Mendenhall of Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held at a later time at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witness in Gastonia. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. LAURA THOMAS Laura Hardin Thomas, 26, 2534 Blacksburg Road, Grover, died October 7, 1996 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was employed at Stonecutter Mill in Spindale and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by her par- ents, Gerald and Carolyn Emery Allen of Forest City; daughter, Brittany Lynn Thomas and her father, David Paul Thomas of Shelby; sister, Connie Lynn McDaniel and husband Jeff of Caroleen; half- sister, Angie Stockton and hus- band Tommy of Lattimore; pa- ternal grandparents, Frank Allen of Grover and Mrs. Sue Yates of Shelby; maternal grandparent, Floyd Emery of Forest City. She was preceded in death by her paternal grand- mother, Betty Emery; and her step-grandfather, W.B. Yates. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Allen Memorial Baptist Church cemetery. HELEN TURNER Helen Self Turner, 76, 175 Mulberry Road, Blacksburg, SC, died October 6, 1996 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Rome O.-and Lizzie Self, and “wife of the late Marvin Turner. “She was a retired Nursing Assistant at: Cleveland Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 32 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Grover. She was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Rebeka Lodge #17. She is survived by her son, Steve Turner of Grover; sisters, Nancy Williams of Smyrna, SC, Rose Jump of Hudson, and Nettie Owensby of Clover, SC; two grandchildren, Debbie Duffie and Joey Crawford of Blacksburg, SC; four great- grandchildren; and her step- mother, Blanche Self of Smyrna, SC. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. John Bridges Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Grover. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. CHARLENE PADGETT Charlene Cooper Padgett, 81, of Kings Mountain, widow of Dr. Philip Grover Padgett, died Sunday, October 6, 1996 at Colonial Heights Convalescent Center in Colonial Heights, VA. A native of Texas, she was the daughter of the late Harry Reginald and Cornelia McNeill Cooper. She is survived by five chil- dren, Cornelia Padgett Ramsey of Petersburg, Va; Priscilla Padgett Blanchard of Running Springs, Calif.; Miriam Moller Lovett of Advance; Phillip Grover Padgett Jr. of Bethesda, Md; and Charles Cooper Padgett of Durham; nine grand- children, Catherine McNeill Ramsey, Jennifer MacGill Padgett, Kenneth Cooper Padgett, Lewis John Blanchard III, Christopher John Blanchard Jr., Susan Priscilla Blanchard, Charlene Elizabeth Padgett, Peter Moller Lovett and John Watkins Lovett. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Dick Newsome Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. October 3, 1996 at his home. “A native of Cleveland County, he was employed by Minette Mills of Grover and had worked at J.P. Stevens in Shelby for 25 years. A native of Luang Prabang, Laos, he was the son of the late Thit On and Bounthanh - Inthavanh. He is survived by his wife, Somphone Inthavanh of Laos; sons, Phourakot Inthavanh and Phourithat Inthavanh of Kings Mountain and Phaymany Inthavanh of Laos; daughters, Viramonh Inthavanh of Kings Mountain and = Phothala Inthavanh of Laos; sister, Kenchanh Inthavanh, Luang Prabang, Laos; and brother, Chanpheng Inthavanh, Vientiane, Laos. A native of Abingdon, VA, she was the daughter of the late Melton and Maggie Lane Thurston. She was retired after 28 years as a day care teacher at Mother Goose Day Care, and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- band, Hubert Haynes of the home; sons, Gary Haynes of Piney Flats, TN and Glenn Haynes of Shelby; daughters, Jane Noblitt of Lancaster, SC, Betty Howard of Kings Mountain, and Diane Law of Acworth, GA; nine grandchil- dren and six great-grandchil- dren.
