the support and equipment
that they need to do their
jobs,” he said. “The salaries
of the police department
and all other city employees
should be in line with other
cities comparable to Kings
Mountain.”
Rodney Gordon is run-
ning for Ward 4 against
incumbent Kay Hambright.
He wants to make Kings
Mountain attractive to
potential and existing indus-
try and residents. Gordon
supports promoting recre-
ation and family values.
“We need leaders in Kings
Mountain that are honest
and have ethical and moral
courage,” he said.
Gordon said he would
base all decisions on short
and long term effects.
“Kings Mountain is truly
blessed and we must con-
front our issues instead of
passing them along to
future genie ions
Gordon is the co-owner of
Carolipa Air Solutions, a
commercial and industrial
heating and air conditioning
company. He works with
owners, facility engineers,
CEOs and executive direc-
tors of places like
Presbyterian Healthcare,
Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools, Bowater, Federal
courthouses and the White
House complex.
“My experience in work-
ing with these types of facil-
ities enhances my abilities to
conduct city business for the
City of Kings Mountain,” he
said.
Hambright is running for
her second term.
“I've never failed to fol-
low through,” she said.
Hambright said that she
has brought citizens’ issues
to the council.
“I'm one person but I do
the best I can to meet their
needs,” she said.
Hambright said serving
on the council is an honor.
Calvin Huffman has filed
for a town commissioner
seat in Grover.
“I'm not satisfied with the -
way things are run in
Grover,” he said. “They
~ (council) are not doing
things for the citizens of
Grover.”
He supports a referendum
which would allow voters to
decide on alcohol sales.
‘Huffman owns a concrete
and septic tank business. He
and his wife Donna also
raise goats and cows.
Incumbent Bill Willis filed
for re-election July 19. His
seat along with one’s held
by Max Rollins and John
Harry are up for election
this year.
Kings Mountain resident
Terry McClain has filed for
Cleveland County School
Board. Last year he was
appointed by the board to
fill the appointed seat of
Larry Allen, who was not
eligible to serve because he
is an employee of the
merged school system.
In addition to McClain,
seats held by George Litton,
Mary Evans and Steve
Curtis are up for election.
Litton and Evans have filed
along with Bobby Steen,
Joanne Holowecky, Philip
Glover, Tammy Trammel,
Wilburn Wellmon and
Barbara Minder. McClain is
the only candidate from
Kings Mountain.

OBITUARIES
JOHN LINDERMAN SR.
KINGS MOUNTAIN - John Broadus Linderman, Sr., qui-
etly passed from this life into the Father’s hands on Sunday,
July 31, 2005 after a protracted battle with heart disease.
At the time of his passing he was surrounded by more
than thirty-five members of his family, church, and commu-
nity in a celebration of his life and worship of God.
Born in Greenville County, SC on the 4th of July 1931 to
Myrtle Few and Charles Dee Linderman, he
was preceded in death by both parents, his
only brother, Leroy Linderman, and one
son, Charles Grant Linderman.
John Broadus Linderman Sr. was married
to Frances Grant Linderman on November
14, 1954. They recently celebrated 50 years
of marriage. Together they had four chil-
dren, John B. Linderman Jr, Cary, NC;
Teresa Caldwell of Kings Mountain, NC;
Leigh Hord of Kings Mountain, NC; and
Charles Grant Linderman, deceased.
. He is survived by his wife Frances Grant Linderman, his
three children, daughter-in-law Celia Linderman, sons-in-
law David Caldwell and Randy Hord; eight grandchildren,
Rev. Carey Caldwell and wife Amanda of Zebulon, NC,
Dusty Hord and wife Alisha of Kings Mountain, NC,
Wesley Caldwell and Hunter Caldwell, both of Kings
Mountain; Casey Hord and Amanda Hord, both of Kings
Mountain, NC; Grant Linderman and Jay Linderman, both
of Cary, NC; and one great-grandchild, Natalie Hord.
John B. Linderman, Sr., served 20 years in the North
Carolina National Guard. He worked for A&P Tea
Company for 18 years and Lance, Inc. for 16 years. He was
an active member of Oak View Baptist Church. He loved
riding his motorcycle with the York County Chapter of the
Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and
will be greatly missed by all.
The funeral was held at Oak View Baptist Church,
Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. James Billings,
Rev. Carey Caldwell and John Linderman Jr. officiated.
Interment was in Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery,
Kings Mountain, NC.
Memorials may be made to Oak View Baptist Church,
1517 York Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home, Kings
Mountain, North Carolina.
KEISHA MULL iW
CLOVER, SC - Keisha Lynette Dellinger Love, 26, 1832 A
Faulkner Road, died July 26, 2005 at Piedmont Medical
Center.
She was a native of Gaston County. She
was a very loving daughter, wife, mother,
granddaughter, niece, and very special to
everyone who knew her. Keisha was full of §
life and had a smile for everyone.
She was a homemaker and a member of
Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Kings
Mountain. She was a 1997 graduate of
Bessemer City High School where she was
a member of the marching band.
She is survived by her husband, Scott
Edward Mull of Clover, SC; son Scottie Mull Jr. of Clover,
SC; daughter Aleisha Mull of Clover, SC; father Ralph
“Freddie” Dellinger Jr. and wife Mira of Gastonia; mother
Denise “Lynn” Gray and husband Mike of Rock Hill, SC;
paternal grandparents Dick and Dorothy “Dot” Dellinger of
Clover, SC; maternal grandparents Keith and Jeanette Bess
of Bessemer City; and sister April Sprouse and husband
Frankie of Blacksburg, SC.
The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Mitchell Pruitt
and Richard Brown at 4 p.m. Friday, July 29 at Chestnut i
Ridge Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. Interment was in
the church cemetery.

BILLY R. DAVIS
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Billy R. Davis, 65, 723 Chestnut
Ridge Road, died July 28, 2005 at Cleveland Pines, Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late
Robert and Ella Mae Rayfield Davis. He was also preceded
in death by his sister, Geraldine McKinney.
He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and
was a retired painter.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Marsh Davis of Kings
Mountain; son Richard W. Davis and wife Sonja of Kings |
Mountain; daughters Phyllis Davis McFee and husband
Keith of Bessemer City; brother Glenn Davis of Blacksburg, i
SC; and five grandchildren, Leah Michelle McFee, Jason i
Christopher McFee, Richard Alton Welsh, Arthur James”
Welsh, and Steven Jacob Welsh. |
The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Richard Brown
and Mitchell Pruitt at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chestnut Ridge
Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
