WRECKS A Kings Mountain Police patrolman reported that Melanie Weaver, traveling west on Jackson Street, swerved to miss a dog crossing the road, but swerved too far to the left and struck another unoccupied vehicle parked along the road- side. Damages totaled $7,600. Ptl. Michael Howard reported that vehicles operated by Jennifer Martin of Kings Mountain and Johnny Short of Gastonia collided on Cansler Street as Martin made a left- hand turn across northbound lanes. Putnam reported ‘that a vehicle operated by Shelby Murphy of Georgia ran off of the roadway coming out of Greentree Apartments, turned right onto Charles Street, ran off of the roadway again, overcorrected and went off on the left side of the road, striking a fire hydrant and a tree before coming to rest at the tree. Murphy and two passengers were transported to Kings Mountain Hospital for treat- ment. Total damages were esti- mated at $5,000. Cpl. Mark Butler reported that vehicles operated by Brian Floyd of Raleigh and Donna Martin of Kings Mountain col- lided at the intersection of King and Cansler streets. Floyd was traveling as part of a funeral procession and stated that he was separated from the other - cars, Martin claimed the light was green for her to cross King Street, when they hit. Total damages to both vehicles were estimated at $5,500. Ofc. D.K. Davis reported that a vehicle driven by Tonya Helms the roadway on N. Cansler "Street, slid sideways and knocked down a pole con- taining four cameras, damaged the landscape and a mulberry tree. Davis reported that Helms left the scene but was located by Sgt. Ware. Total damages were estimated at $2,500. Ptl. G.L. McKinney reported that a vehicle operated by Jordan Stamp was waiting on a train to cross at Linwood Road when another vehicle struck his rear bumper and fled the scene. Damages were estimated at $200. Ptl. M.J. Howard reported that vehicles operated by John Vandyke of Kings Mountain and Jacqueline Scism of Southport hit at the intersection of W. Mountain and S. Cansler streets when Scism admitted that she did not stop for the traffic light, which was red. Total damages to both vehicles were estimated at $6,500. They may go to one doctor (for a prescription) and have been to another earlier. The other wouldn't know,” Sgt. Proctor stated. The Schedule 1. drug, Oxycodone, is known on the streets as “Oxy-cotton.” It has a “high potential for abuse and dependen- cy” according to information released by the Gastonia PD. According to Proctor, one pill canbe sold for $3-10. The prescription dropped off seemed suspicious to Moss pharmacists. The suspect allegedly changed the dosage units of 12 milligrams to 120 on the pre- scription. Moss Pharmacist Shane Barnes said, “(Thomas’s) just had a look about it. It was the ink.” There isn’t a current numerical limit of the drug medically that Barnes said he is aware of. Some health insurance companies may set an amount. But normally, Barnes says, you don’t see more than 120. Gastonia PD reported that Thomas was working with other suspects who came into Moss Drugs to pick up the prescription.
