Rash Of Accidents Cause Heavy Damage, Injuries
Six wrecks in a three day
period have been listed by the
Kings Mountain Police Depa
rtment.
John Allyn Cheshire, 75, of
9 Country Club Road and Jo
hn Frank Styers, 64, of 701
Lee Street were involved In
an accldept Wednesday at 7:20
In the morning. The report
by Patrolman Robert Dodge
stated that Styers had stopped
for a light on Watterson Str
eet. When the light changed,
Styers proceeded south and
Cheshire hit him in the right
side coming down West King.
Styers was taken to KM Me
morial Hospital and was tre
ated and released. Damage
to the Cheshire 1961 Bulck was
listed at $600 and Styers 1966
was damaged $1000 worth.
A one car accident occured
Wednesday at 11:24 p.m. on
south Battleground Avenue
approximately 100 feet south
from Falls Street toward
Dickson Street. John Robert
Blanton, 23, of 202 Louisiana
Avenue in Bessemer Citywas
charged with reckless driving
after running off the right side
of Battleground. Ptl. Richard
Reynolds investigated the ac
cident and said Blanton was
traveling north on Battlegro
und Avenue when he stepped
on the gas and accelerated.
He lost control and ran off the
road, striking a utility pole
and sign. Damage to the 1957
Chevrolet Blanton was driv
ing was estimated at $175 and
damage to the pole sind sign
was listed at $25.

ntain was treated and relea
sed from the Kings Mountain
Hospital following and acci
dent Wednesday morning at
9:03. According to a witness,
Mary Ann got out of her step
father’s truck on York Road,
100 feet south from Charles
Street and ran around the back
and into the path of William
Arthur Zachary, Sr. Mr. Za
chary of 223 Westwood Apar
tments in Marlon, N.C. struck
the child. No charges were
listed.

dodge a dog in the road. She
swerved and ran off the right
side of the road and struck
the signs. Damage to her 1965
Cadillac was listed at $10 and
damages to the signs were lis
ted at $32.50.

Mountain were involved in a
Friday accident. The accident
occurred on East King Street,
350 feet east of Oriental Av
enue toward Gaston at 3:58
in the afternoon. Reports sa
id that Powell’s 1968 Bulck
ran into the Shipman car as
it was slowing down for tra
ffic. Powell was charged with
following too close. TheShip-
man 1968 Chevrolet was
damaged $300 worth and $400
damage was done to the Pow
ell car. No injuries were lis
ted.
