Pic W Pay Grand Opening In KM Plaza
Everything was in readiness
today for the grand opening of
Pic ’N Pay Store's new outiet
in Kings Mountain on Thur
sday, Pic 'N Pay is the largest
self-service shoe chain in the
Southeast.
The new store is situated in
the Kings Mountain Plaza
Shopping Center.
Albert G. Segal, Chairman
of the Board of Directors,
said: “Kings Mountain was
^osen for the company’s
newest store because we have
watched its growth and
progress for some time, and
we are impressed by its
potential. We now operate 1968
retail shoe stores and 42
leased shoe departments in
nine Southeastern states
ranging from Delaware
through Alabama, and we
expect to open additional
stores within the next year.”
“Our thorough and in-depth
studies convinced us that
Kings Mountain and the
surrounding communities are
truly representative of
America on the move, and we
iant to have a part in its
growth”, said A1 Segal.
Alvin E. Levine, Pic 'N
Pay’s President, stressed that
the company never resorts to
high-pressure sales efforts.
“We bdieve that peopie are
not satisfied if they are
pressured into buying mer
chandise they don’t really
want, or don’t need,” he said.
“Our organization has been
built on satisfied customers,
and we intend to keep it that
way.
“We stock only first-quality
merchandise,” Mr. Levine
added. We stock footwear and
, accessories for the entire
mmily. Our prices are low
because of our mass
purchasing power, low
operating costs, and low
(tetribution cost.
Levine said that nearly all of
Pic ’N Pay’s shoes are
American-made, although
some imported shoes are also
stocked. “We constantly
search foreign and domestic
markets for the best shoe
buys. We buy top quality at the
ri^ price and pass the
savings on to the customer,”
he said.
Pic ’N Pay is a firm believer
in local advertising, according
to Charles Barnes, director of
Advertisine. The Company is
the leading retail shoe ad
vertiser in the Southeast.
“We normally run two
newspaper ads a week,” he
said, “and we make certain
that they are factual and
reflect a high degree of
simplicity and taste.”
We at Pic ’N Pay believe
that the best advertising is the
kind that sets forth clearly the
type of operation we have,
precisely what we have to
offer, and the price at which it
is sold. We show actual
photographs of all our ad
vertised merchandise so that
the customer may recognize it
easily and quickly on the
store's racks,” he added
Pic ’N Pay Stores, Inc.,
which was organized in June
1957, is head-quartered in
Matthews, North Carolina in a
modern 116,000-square foot
warehouse and office facility.
Work is under way on Pic ’N
Pay’s completely new, and
expanded warehouse and
office facility next door to
their present location.
The warehouse is semi-
automated for filling orders
quickly and economically.
Pic ’N Pay Stores
throughout the company’s
nine-state area are situated on
main highways or in shopping
centers for customer con
venience and nearly all of
them have their own parking
facilities.
Open daily 9 a.m. til 9 p.m.,
Sunday 1 p.m. til 6 p.m.
Pic ’N Pay manager is
Russell C. Watson of Kings
Mountain. He is married to the
former Ellen Black. They are
members of First Baptist
Church.
