Goins of Kings Mountain, graduated cum laude June 1 from Appalachian State University with B.A. in Politi cal Science and minor in Busi ness Administration. Miss Goins is a 1971 grad uate of Kings Mountain High School. While obtaining her B.A. de gree, she served nine months as an intern in the local governments of Kings Moun tain, three months, and Iredell. County, six months. She ii presently working with the State of North Carolina in Ihe Department of Intergovern mental Relatirais. She plans to attend the University of Georgia in September as a re search assistant while pur suing her master’s d^ree in Public Administration. Her professional goal is to become a local government manager. Kisses For Sal. JULIE POAG AND Dau^ter, Ernestine FIREMENREPORT Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department answered only four calls during the month of May as firemen reported a total of 120 manhours, in cluding 95 .manhours on train ing and 25 manhours on calls. Firemen extinguished one grass fire, one house fire, cme trash container fire and stood by at Midpines Community when power lines were down. Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Kelly Mauney, 62, wife of Dr. J. P. Mauney, Kings Mountain veterinarian, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 4 p. m. from St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of which she was a member. Her pastor. Rev. Robert Allen, officiated at the final rites, and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Ware Roberts, 69, wife of Tom Roberts, were con ducted Sunday afternoon at 3 p. m. from Central United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Her pastor. Rev. P. H. Waugh, was assisted by Rev. Gary Bryant in officiating at the final rites, and interment was in Mountain Rest (^me- tery. Mis. Roberts died Friday afternoon in the Kings Moun tain Hospital after several year’s illness. She was a native of Cleve land County, daughter of the late Miles H. and Georgia Neal Ware. For 42 years she was employed in the Weaving Department of Margrace Mill where her husband retired after many years service. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Posey of Apex; one son, Kenneth Roberts of Lincolnton; four grandchil dren, Debbie Posey Hersh berger of Raleigh and Keith Posey of Apex, Chris Roberts! of Houston, Tex. and Tracey Roberts of Lincolnton; and one great-grandson, Robert Hershberger of Ralei^. Also surviving are her sisters, Mrs. Edna Hord of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Bonnie Falls of Dunedin, Fla.; and her brother, Herman Ware of Kings Mountain.
