Bicen tennial Committee, it was learned that plans as far as that county are concerned are almost completed in connec tion with the Appalachian Consortium planned Over mountain Victory Trail march. The march is a re-enact ment of the two week forced march undertaken by Revol utionary War Americans to meet British troops and loyalists at Kings Mountain. R. L. (Rip) Collins of the Appalachian Craisortium is the man bdiind this historic event. Collins said the Consortium is sponsoring the march, but that special events along the line of march (from Sycamore Shoals, Tenn. to Kings Moun tain National Military Park) are left to the communities and counties wishing to par ticipate. Legion Auxiliary Officers Elected Mirror-Herald Womans Editor Elizabrth Stewart was elected state vice-president of the American Legion Auxiliary at the recent state convention at Winston- Salem’s Hyatt House. She wiU serve as member ship chairman of the 15,000- member organization in 1975- 76 and advance to the presi dency in 76-77. Miss Stewart, who served two terms as Unit 155 presi dent, was District 23 presi dent, and completed this year a term as Division V president, she received the award as Division President of the Year for her leadership of 41 units of 2,500 members this year. She has also served as chairman of committees on Americanism and Com munications and is a member of the state Task Force committee. Kings Mountain Unit 155 honored Miss Stewart at a re ception Friday evening and assisting in entertaining from the local Unit and Post were Mrs. Ruth Gamble, president; Mrs. Orangrel B. Jolly; Vice Commander Stonewall Jack- son and Mrs. Jackson; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hampton; Mrs. Jackie D. Barrett; Carl Wilson and Rick Moore. S. (Corky) Fulton 111, the down town merchant who proposed the project.
