Campbell asks a family of farmers near the mountain if they have seen Col. Ferguson’s troops in the area. This film and two others will be shown tonight at Barnes Auditorium. This is a Kings Mountain Bicentennial Commission project. At Barnes Auditorium Film On Kings Mountain Tonight ON ELECTION DAY OCTOBER 7, 1975 For the convenience of our friends] and customers CALL ADAMS & ORR CAB CO. ■. ■ ’ 739-9901 - 739-9992 FOR A FREE RIDE TO THE POLLS Tonight at 7:30 the Kings Mountain Bicentennial Com mission presents three color films on a trio of historical events from the American Revolutionary War. The films will be shown at B. N. Barnes Auditorium. The films, produced with live action, pa-iod costuming and settings by the National Geographic Society, include “Kings Mountain,” “Song of Molasses” and “Not Worth A Continental.” “Kings Mountain” drama tizes the bitter intensity of The Revolutionary War in the Carolines. In its depiction the film shows the majority of the combatants were Americans — relative against relative in some cases. Col. William Campbell, commander of the patriots known as the Over mountain Men, leads his troops to the slopes of Kings Mountain where he and Cleveland, Shel by, Hambright and other historical figures met and de- feated^ Col. Patrick Fergu son’s regulars and Tories in a bloody hour-long battle. The film also goes on to the trials held eight days later near Gilbert Town to deter mine which of the Tories were guilty of hanging offenses. “Song of Molasses” takes place in the mid-1760s when the American colonies faced strict enforcemait of a new British import tax on molasses. Job Smith is caught and his ship and cargo seized when he declares and pays tax on only a part of the cargo. Smith’s fellow citizens demand a gesture of protest against the tax and the seizure and Smith finds himself torn between protest and sub mission. “Not Worth A Continental” takes place in the winter of 1777-78 when both the British in Philadelphia and the Continental Army at Valley Forge were in desperate need of food and other sujplies. A Continental foraging party stops at a Pennsylvania farm where a mother and three children are living off meager food supplies. The party dis covers a hidden cashe of food, then must decide who needs the supplies more — the Army or the family. These three films are part of a package of 12 under the title “Decades of Decision.” Tickets are $1.25 and are available at all drug stores in Kings Mountain. The fees from tickrt sales will go toward the purchase of the film “Kings Mountain” which will be given to the Kings Mountain Senior High library for use in the community and in the school system. The films will run approxi mately 90 minutes, according to Sarah Faunce, chairman of the Bicen films committee. NOTICE OF EXECUTRIX TO CREDITORS INVITATION TO BID Re-Elect Lloyd E.
