No automobile accidents occurred in the city during the Fourth of July weekend. Kings Mountain Pcriice Department were called to the scene of three accidents on Thursday, July 1, and to one accident on Monday, July 5th. Glenn Joseph Suttles, 1420 Second St. Ext., was treated for injuries at Kings Mountain Hospital and released Monday morning after an 11:05 a. m. two-car crash involving the Sultles 1972 Datsun and a 1968 International Truck operated by Robert S. Mike Moss, who investigated for KMPD, Moss was traveling S. on Cleveland couldn’t get stopped for the red light and hit the Suttles car going through the intersection of Cleveland and Unwood Rd. Damages were estimated at $2,000 to the Suttles car and $200 to the truck. Howser Home Preserved Mi'retti Qmstruction Co. of Charh'tte has been awarded a $64,027.50c(<ntract by theU. S. Department of Interior for the preservation of the Henry H'wser home in Kings M' untain National Military Park. The two-story dwelling Is < ne of the few surviving stone structures from the 19th century in the south. Work is scheduled to begin im mediately with nine months in which to finish. Bicen Choir Concert A “rear end” collision oc curred Thursday at 11:35 p. m. when a car operated by Lake Thomas Bolin. Rt. 2, Blacksburg. S. C., reportedly struck the back of a 1969 E'ord operated by Robert F. Ware. Rt. 1. on Waco Rd. Damages were estimated at $50U to the Bolin 1966 Ford and $256 to the Ware vehicle, according to Ptl. Harry Martin who in vestigated. Two cars operated by Mrs. Ethel Stocks Costner, Rt. 3 Shelby, and John F. Yarbro, Jr. 962 Sharon Dr., hit at the intersection of W. King and Phifer Rd., Ptl. David Bridges reported. Yarbro reportedly had the green light and had proceeeded across King when his 1972 Ford was struck by the Costner car. Damages were estimated at $456. Cars operated by Lowe William Allen, of Clover, S. C. and Melvin H. Carroll of 1667 N. Piedmont Ave. collided Tliursday at 4:35 p. m. at the intersection of East Ridge and N. Carpenter Sts. Allen, operating a 1976 Chevy, had stopped at the stop sign and was looking left at the vehicle approaching with his right turn signal on as he pulled into roadway, according to Sgt. L. D Beattie who investigated for KMPD. The Carroll dar didn't turn, according to the report, and the two cars hit. Damages were estimated at $656. In other law enforcement activities. KMPD is in vestigating the breaking and entering of the home of Larry Bennett Deaver, 1766 Nor- thwoods. The Denver family was reportedly at a ballgame and returned home at 9:45 p. m. to find the back door had beentorn open and the bedroom vandalized. Reported missing from a dresser drawer were six U. S. savings bonds valued at $128.75 each, a $666 wedding ring and engagement ring set, and one set racket wrenches for a total of $826.56. Ptl. Harry Martin answered the call. The money being spent on the resti>ralion, acco^ing to Jack Garner, an historic architect with the National Park Service out of Atlanta, la to keep the dwelling from ftirther deterioration. Restoration includes resetting lix'se stones around the fireplace, replacing the rr,'f and decayed interior on the first floor and main tenance of grounds around the structure. The dwelling will be closed l< tourists during the restoration work.
