November 8, 1*78 Rescue Logs 2,84S Miles In October Klnga Mountain Rescue Squad made 13S trips totalling 3,848 miles and members put In B68 man hours during the month of October. Hie squad answered 61 house calls, made 80 transports, four blood runs, SB emergencies, 14 personal Injuries, 16 wrecks, assisted In 16 calls, answered four fires and one training exercise. Hospital trips included 66 to Kings Mountain Hospital, six to Kings Mountain Convalescent Center, one to Raleigh, one to Duke, 16 to Cleveland Memorial, four to Gaston Memorial, two to Charlotte Memorial and one each to Presbyterian, Gaston Rehabilitation Center and Gaffney. Col. Murray 1b Honored SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Colonel Reginald A. Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyer A. Murray of 1017 Sherwood Lane, Kings Mountain, has received the Meritorious Service Medal at McClellan Air Force Base, here. He was cited for out standing duty per formance as base comp troller, assistant deputy commander for resources management and deputy commander for resources management at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. A 1062 graduate of Central High School, Kings Mountain, the colonel earned a bachelor’s degree In 1056 from Duke University, Durham, N.C., and was commissioned through the ROTC program. He also earned a master’s degree In 1076 from Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg. r-.i-u., Kim Bridges Wins Honors Kim Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Bridges, Sunrise Farm, exhibited the Senior and Grand Champion Guern sey female in the Open Show ^t the N.C. State Fair. Her 8-year-old cow “Sunrise Winston Raven’’ won top honors over all ages of Guernsey females In the open competition. Kevin Bridges, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bridges, won the Showmanship and Fitting Contest In the Junior Show. All members of the Bridges family did well at the Guernsey Show. Kim received two blue ribbons, Kristin - two blue ribbons, Kevin • two blue ribbons, and Beckl Bridges - three blue ribbons out of a total of nine animals exhibited at the fair. Homemaker Exhibits Open To Public ’Die theme for the Ex tension Homemaker Clubs exhibits Thursday and Friday Is “Decorations and Crafts for All Seasons.” Exhibits will be at the Cbunty Office Building and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 0 p.m. on ’Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday. Clubs have taken dif ferent months of the year and will have a display table depicting a holiday In that month. Some homemakers wUl model garments they have made ’Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 4:80 p.m. Oakes, cookies, hotdogs and crafts will be sold by several clubs. Many of these Items will make good gifts to give during the holiday season.
