Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa have decorated a
Thanksgiving bulletin board for residents of Kings
Mountain Convalescent Center as an Altruistic
project. The bulletin board will be featured during
the month of November for residents and visitors

Family Brings Recital

in her honor Friday night at
Mauney Music Building on the

recordings of the concert and
the program which paid tribute
to the family for their many love
guts to the institution.

Mountain industrialist and
member of one of the city’s
pioneer founding families, Mrs.
Mauney has loved music all her
life and encouraged her
children. Including famed duo-
pianists Miles and the late
Ernest J. Mauney, Jr., George
H. Mauney, David K. Mauney,
all of Kings Mountain, and
Professor Miles H. Mauney of
Oberllne, Ohio, and her
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ernest J.
Mauney of Syossett, , Dong

Mrs. Mauney’s favorite

Kings Mountain were W.K.
Mauney, Jr., his daughter,
Martha Jane Mauney, his
daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. David Faunce, and Mr.
and Mrs. George H. Mauney.
Bom In Dallas, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. L.M.
Hoffman, Mrs. Mauney and
W.K. Mauney were married Oct.
19, 1916. Mr. Mauney died In
1971.
Family and friends helped
Mrs. Mauney celebrate her 92nd
birthday Sept. 9.

City Commissioners Bill
Grissom and Jim J. Dickey have
been appointed by Mayor John
Henry Moss to serve on the city
beautification committee, along
with representatives of area
garden clubs.
Mrs. W.T. Weir is chairman of
the nine-member committee
which has presented grounds
beautification plans for the new
Kings Mountain Government
Facilities Building.
A large copy of the adopted
beautification plan, which in
cludes the planting of trees and
shrubs, will be on display in the
vestibule of the new City Hall in
order for citizens to view the
project as it gets underway.
Mrs. Weir said that Town and
Country Garden Club will
sponsor a benefit card party
Thurs., Nov. 29th, in the
vestibule of the new City Hall
and proceeds will be distributed
between the beautification
project of the handsome new
facility and North Carolina Zoo.
Mrs. Weir said that tlckeU are
$3 per person and each foui some
is asked to bring a card table
and cards for any game the
group wishes to play, such as
bridge, rook, canasta. Light
refreshments will be served and
score prizes will be awarded.
Mrs. Weir said that Kings
Mountain citizens are invited to
make memorials to loved ones
via the beautification project of
planting a tree or shrub.
