Thundoy, July 31. 1980-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Pag* 3B 'Ol le D 0 Building Committee Dicusses Plans TOMMI LEIGH BRIDGES Tommi Celebrates Tommi Leigh Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bridges of Gastonia, celebrated her second birthday Sun., July 27th, at a party at her home. A Ragg^y Ann cake and ice cream were enjoyed by Tommi’s fnends and relatives. Tommi has one sister, Tammy, 14, and grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William E. Bridges of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Francis Branch of Greensboro. Michelle Celebrates Michelle Pearson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Pearson, celebrated her fifth birthday July 13th at McDonald’s. Friends and relatives atten ding her party were Rusty and Melissia McAbee, Jason McAbee, Gina Holmes, Shan McAbee, Nikki Crane, Jarius Laughter, Shawn Pettus, Rhon da and Laura Falls, Elizabeth and Amos Kelso. After hamburgers, french fries, ice cream and a McDonald’s cake, Michelle opened her gifts. She also receiv ed a McDonald’s doll. Michelle’s youM^ sister is Jos«5mn^icA®;e and ,ftte late Russell McAbee and W.E. Pear son and the late Mrs. Mary Pear son. The 1980-Sl Parish Council of Christ the King Catholic Church in Kings Mountain met on July 24th in conjunction with their building committee to discuss plans for the coming year. Commission assignments were announced as follows; President of Parish Council, Peggy Hart- soe; Chairman, Carl Wilson; Secretary (Communications), Ann Marie Bridges; Spiritual Life Commission, Alice Dodge; Family and Community Life, Carl and Evelyn Wilson; Con fraternity of Christian Doctrine (Education), Barbara Hewitt. The remaining assignments will be announced at the next meeting. The building committee con sists of Christine Morrison, Chairperson; Marlene Bennett, Secretary; Louise Brown, Ron Ffanks, Carl and Evelyn Wilson. Goals were discussed for the coming year - evangelization be ing a top priority. How to make ourselves known to the surroun ding community also placed high on the list. Fr. Michael Hoban, pastor of St. Mary’s, Shelby and also Christ the King, presented a preliminary financial report. A complete report will be ready for the next meeting. The building committee presented an outline on prospec tive sites for the “new” Christ the King Catholic Church. Bids were presented on some of these. A meeting has been planned for early August with represen tatives of the Bishop’s office for the Diocese of Charlotte to discuss purchase plans. Newlyweds Entertained A Mr. and Mrs. Claudie Suber, ^ newlyweds, were entertained at a cookout Tuesday evening, July 15th, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. John C. McGill. John Knox McGill assisted his parents as host. Dinner was served buffet style by OancUelight. The guests found their places at round tables covered with yellow and white ^ check cloths. Williamsburg hur ricane lamps, wreathed with summer flowers, decorated the buffet and guest tables. The recent bride wore a deep blue sundress accented with eyelet embroidery.
