o *1 Roberts-Spikes Marriage Vows Exchanged Saturday Adam’s Chapel Methodist Church provided the setting Saturday for a 4 p.m. exchange of wed^ng vows uniting Miss Cynthia Jeanette Roberts and Bobby Spikes, Jr. The couple pledged vows of the double-ring ceremony before Rev. Mrs. Pruella Kilgore. Theron Femester was organist for the program of nuptial music and Miss Michelle Kilgore was vocal soloist. Yellow pompons and spiral candelabra enhanced an arch of greenery and formed a background for the exchange of vows. White glads and yellow mums centered the setting. Nathaniel Roberts escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride's wedding gown was a formal design of white tulle and polyester satin designed with a high see-through neckline bordered by wide panels of bridal lace and featuring a Wed ding Ring collar with long sleeves enhanced by see-through cuffs. The full skirt was com pleted with a Chapel length train. Her waist-length veil of il lusion was bordered with lace and attached to a headpiece covered with seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow daisies and baby’s breath. Mrs. Willie Early, who attend ed the bride as matron of honor, wore a semi-fitted full length evening gown of pale green Qiana enhanced by a capelet of floral printed chiffon. %e car ried a colonial bouquet of yellow daisies and baby’s breath tied with white satin streamers. Bridesmaids were Miss Penny Lockhart and Miss Linda Lockhart, both of Shelby, Miss Karen Roberts, Miss Margarita Roberts, both of Kings Moun tain, and Miss Sandy Wilson of Shelby. They wore street-length semi-fitted gowns of pale yellow Qiana covered with a capelet of floral printed chiffon and carried nosegays similar to that of the bride and matron of honor. ' Chetha Early, who served as flower girl, wore a full-length semi-fitted gown of pale yellow Qiana covered with a capelet of floral printed chiffon. Telly Hunt was ringbearer. Best man for the bridegroom was Stanley Jones of Shelby. Ushers were Willie Huskey, Benard Hunt, both of Shelby, Carl Roberts, Willie E. Huskey and Tommy Fan of Kings Mountain. Mrs. Ida Byers was hostess at a reception which followed the ceremony in the church MRS. BOBBY SPIKES. IR. (Cynthia laanett* RoberU) fellowship hall. The yellow and white theme of the wedding was beautifully featured in decorative details. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Roberts of Kings Mountain. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jefferies of Grover. Grover will be home for the newlyweds after they return from a wedding trip. Birth Announcements Mr. and Mrs. Eddie C. White of Ladson, South Carolina, formerly of Kings Mountain, an nounce the birth of their second child, a daughter, Paige Elizabeth, July 18th. The baby weighed six pounds, seven ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Huffstetler and Lawrence White, ail of Kings Mountain. The Whites also have a daughter, Nikki, age four. The Huffstetlers have just returned from visiting their new grandchild. The baby’s mother is the former Gail Huffstetler. ★★★ Mr. and Mrs. Randy McDaniel of the Bethlehem Community announce the birth of a son, John Sidney, on July 12th, Cleveland Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds, one ounce. Named for his grandfathers, John is the grandson of Mr. and John Douglas McDaniel and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Jackson (Jack) Hughes, all of Kings Mountain. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Wortman of Shelby and Mrs. Lee McDaniel of Kings Mountain. The McDaniels also have a son, David Allan, who is two and one half years old. ★★★ Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Craig Bolin announce the arrival of their first child, a son, Brandon Craig Bolin, on Thursday, July 24, at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, Shelby. Brandon weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. at birth and was 20 in. long. His mother is the former Tina Hughes. Grandparents are Mrs. Betty B. Hughes and Mrs. Mattie Botin. Great-grandparents are Mrs. Francis Biddix and Mrs. Annette Hughes, all of Kings Mountain. ■'41 SECTION^ Thursday, July 31,1980 Smith-Eaker Couple Exchange Wedding Vows North Roanoke Baptist Church of Roanoke, Va. was the setting Saturday for the wedding of Miss Deborah Lynne Smith and Mark Wesley Eaker. The couple pledged vows of the double-ring ceremony before the Rev. Richard C. Walden, Jr., minister of the church. Mrs. Richard Walden was organist for the program of tradi tional music and Miss Kathy Levine was vocal soloist. The altar of the church was banked with ptalms, fresh flowers and candles in wrought-iron candelabra. Robert E. Smith escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride’s for mal wedding gown was a Candlelight design fashioned with Queen Anne neckline trim med with lace and featuring a knee-length skirt. Her fingertip veil was draped from a lace and pearl headband and she carried a cascade bouquet of white and coral silk flowers. Mrs. Michael Hepworth at tended the bride as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Michael Kidd of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Donna Russ of Kings Mountain, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Paige Mauney of Kings Mountain, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Ellen Cor nelius of Hillsborough. All the attendants wore long formats of coral Quiana with matching jackets. They carried nosegays of fresh flowers tied with satin streamers. Children attendants were Stephanie Kidd and Courtney Kidd. The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Phil Russ of Kings Mountain, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Duncan Haley of Roanoke, Va., Mike Tate and Blair Goodman, both of Durham, and Robby Bridges of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kings Mountain. For her daughter’s wedding the bride’s mother chose a mint green formal and a white shoulder corsage of fresh flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was gowned in a print design in shades of brown and green and chose a corsage of white flowers. For a wedding trip to New York City the bride chose a white linen dress trimmed in yellow and green and topped her ensemble with a green jacket. She lifted the corsage from her bridal bouquet. Smith of Roanoke, Va. are parents of the bride who is a 1971 graduate of Northside High School and a 1976 graduate of Randolph Macon College with B.A. in Psychology. She is employed with Finks Jewelers, Inc. of Roanoke. She is granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Smith and Mrs. Jesse Kendrick tmd the late Mr. Kendrick. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce E. Eaker of Kings Mountain are parents of the bridegroom who is grand son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.l. Eaker and of Mrs. Ed Huff stetler of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. Huffstetler. He is a 1974 graduate of Kings Moun tain High School and a 1978 graduate of Western Carolina University with B.S. in Business Administration. He lettered for four years at Western Carolina University on the tennis team. He is employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company of Gaston in the Claims Depart ment of the Roanoke Division Office. Roanoke, Virginia is home for the newlyweds. «) # DONNA MARIA REINHARDT ENGAGED—Mr. and Mrs. Franklin O. Reinhardt of Cherryville announce the engagement of their daughter, Donna Maria, to Barry Wayne George, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth George of Kings Mountain. The bride-elect is a 1978 graduate of Cherryville High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America, a 1977 Junior marshal and was listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students’’. She is employed by Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. and attends Gaston Col lege where she is a member and past president of the Gamma Beta Phi Society. Her fiance, a 1974 graduate of Lincointon High School, is employed by Eaton Corporation. The couple plans a September 14 wedding at First Wesleyan Church of Cherryville. CYNTHIA MJUUE HUGHES ENGAGED—Mr. and Mrs. Jerrell H. Hughes announce the engage ment of their daughter, Cynthia Marie to George Kenneth Meek. The bride-elect is a 1978 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. She is employed in the office of Thermacote-Welco Co. of Kings Mountain. Mr. and Mrs. George L. Meek of York, South Carolina are the parents of the prospective bridegroom. He is a 1976 graduate of York High School and is employed by Duke Power, Catawba Nuclear Project in York, South Carolina. The wedding will be the event of November 1, at Second Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Miller of Jeffer son City, Tennessee. The bride-elect is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is employed by Cleveland County Law En forcement Center in Shelby. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Jefferson City High School, attended Lees McRae College for two years and received his B.S. in Industrial Technology from Tennessee Tech University. The wedding will be an event of August 30th at 10 a.m. in Gastonia’s St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
