BENII INGLE Benji Celebrates Fifth Birthday Benji Ingle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ingle, celebrated his fifth birthday Aug. 26th. A birthday party was held at Kate’s Skating Rink in Gastonia. Benji’s brother, Jonah, age one, joined in the party festivities with family members. Benji is grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wheeler and Mr. and .Mrs. Hershal Davis, Sr., all of Kings Mountain, and great- grandson of Mrs. Nora Wheeler of Warner Robbins, Ga. CHARLIE WABLICK Eighth Birthday For Warlick Charlie Warlick, son of Philip and Carolyn Warlick, will celebrate his eighth birthday Sept. 19th at a “Duke’s of Hazard” Party. Charlie and his friends will go bowling and will return to the Warlick home to view “Duke’s of Hazard” on television and en joy a birthday cake decorated with General Lee and the Duke’s Car. Party favors will be Con federate flags. Charlie is grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Plato Heavner of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. 1 orrest Warlick of Shelby. His paternal great grandmother is Mrs. C.J. Gault, Sr. of Kings Mountain. The Warlick family, formerly of Kings Mountain, reside at 919 Lexington Court in Cary. Mrs. Warlick is the former Carolyn Heavner. Billy Smith Three Years Old Billy Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith of Center St., celebrated his third birthday on September 1. A Big Bird birthday cake was served with all the trimmings and Big Bird decorations were used for the party. Twenty guests attended in cluding Billy’s brother Dale, and his sister, Keisha. Billy is the grandson of Mrs. Doris Leigh of Dallas and William P. Leigh of Shelby. Seven Kings Mountain area w t)nien were among a chartered tour group from Lafayette Street Methodist Church Senior Citizens who spent several days recently in Colonial Williamsburg, Va. They were Mrs. Nancy Dover, Mrs. Ruth Gamble, Miss Rita Palis, Mrs. Orangrel Jolly, Mrs. Paul Short, Mrs. Eunice Smith and Mrs. Ruth Huff- stctler. According to the local citizens, visitors to Williamsburg c.xpcrience life as it was lived in George Washington’s day iti a small colonial city alive once again with functioning shops, craftspeople at work in their par ticular specialties and bustling taverns that serve food and drink such as would have been served in the 18th Century when Williamsburg was the metropolis of Britain’s vast Virginia holdings. The 173-aere historical area is centered around Duke of Cdoucester Street which runs Irom the College of W illiam and Mary, where Thomas Jefferson studied, approximately one mile to the one time Capitol where Patrick Henry denounced King George Ill’s stamp tax. Duke of Gloucester Street itself is lined with old homes, taverns, stores and craft shops. 1^ Blackwell Reunion Held CYNTHIA TROUTMAN TAMMY ARROWOOD The family of the late W.C. and Alice Huffstetler Blackwell, former residents of Kings Moun tain, held their annual family reunion at the Lake W'ylie cot tage of a granddaughter, Jake and Marjorie Montgomery, in August. The Blackwells lived in Kings Mountain for a number of years and ran a grocery store at the present site of Allen’s Florists. Over 100 persons attended the reunion, coming from New Orleans, Florida, Greenville, S.C., Mauldin, S.C., Piedmont, S.C., Easley, S.C., Blacksburg, S.C., Grover, Kings Mountain, Gastonia, Cramerton and Lex ington. Children attending were Ulyess Blackwell and Mrs. Elidge (Bedia) Treadaway, both of Gastonia; Mrs. Charlie (Ola) Price of Greensboro and Bynum Blackwell of Cramerton. To Be In KM Parade North Carolina Apple Festival Junior Princess, Cyn thia Troutman, and Little Miss Shelby, Tammy Arrowood, will ride in the Kings Mountain Bicentennial Parade on Tues., Oct. 7. Cynthia is eight years old and the daughter of Fred and Bar bara Troutman. Tammy is also eight and the daughter of Jerry and Debbie Arrowood. Both are third graders at Number Three Elementary School.
