Included in the program was reading of the poem, ‘The Fami ly Tree”, which was written by the late Rev. Joe Dotson and read to the reunion gathering by his brother. Rev. Paul Dotson. The baby weighed six pounds seven and| one-half ounces. * He is grandson of Mrs. Kay Guin of Kings Mountain and Joseph Cash of Wallingford, Conn, and of Ellis King of Kings Mountain and the late Mrs. Maude King. JAMES EDWARD YATES COUPLE WED FRIDAY-Miss Lynn Darlene Tate, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Oliver Tate, and James Edward Yates, son of Mrs. J. M. Yates and the late Mr. Yates, all of Kings Mountain, were married Friday evening in York, S.C. by Probate Judge Lee S. Alford. The bride wore an off-white suit featuring a blazer and skirt and blouse and carried a bouquet of silk flowers. Both the bride and bridegroom are KMSHS graduates. Mrs. Yates attended Gaston College and works in the Dietary Department at Kings Mountain Hospital. Mr. Yates graduated from Cleveland Technical College and works for Eaton Corporation. The newlyweds are at home on Phifer Road. Autumnfest Is Slated The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Depiartment has applications for the 1980 AutumnFest, which will be held on Saturday, October 25, in Southern Pines. The AutumnFest is basically a day long celebration of fall filled with fun, running, music, clowns and activities for the entire fami ly. The day will begin around 10 a.m. when the runs get under way. The 2 kilometer fun run will begin at 1005 a.m.; the 10 Kilometer run will begin at 9:50 a.m.; and the 20 Kilometer run will start at lOOO a.m. The AutumnFest will be spon sored by Contractor’s Glass in conjunction with the Moore County and Southern Pines Recreation Department. If you have any questions or would like to pick up an applica tion for the Runs, come by the Parks and Recreation Depart ment, located in the new City Hall on the 2nd floor or call 739-6995. Birth Anncuncement Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wallace Jr. announce the birth of their first child, a girl, Stephanie Nicole, born on Sept. 16 at 2:34 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Stephanie’s parents. Bill and Rhonda, reside at 117 Heritage Lane in Kings Mountain. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Sisk of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wallace Sr. of Gastonia. Her great- grandparents are Mrs. Bertha Forrester and the late Charles J. Forrester of Kingston, Ten nessee and Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Wallace of Goldsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sisk of Kings Mountain. PAULETTE HINSON WEBB ENGAGED-Paulette Hinson Webb of Clover, S. C. and Billy Keith McMurry of Kings Mountain plan to be married Sat., Oct. 25th, at 2 p.m. in Yorkwood Church of God in Gastonia. Their engagement is announced by the bride-to-be’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Riddle, Jr. of Clover. Ms. Webb is a graduate of Gaston College and is employed by Homelite of Gastonia. Mr. McMurry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill McMurry of Kings Mountain, is also a graduate of Gaston College and is employed by AMPS of Gastonia as a draftsman. ShirU'V Allien I'utler Thursday In Gastonia Erskine Living Endowment Fund Meeting The Gastonia and Kings Mountain Chapters of the Alumni Association of Erskine College in Due West, S.C., will open its solicitation for the 1980-81 Erskine Living Endow ment Campaign Thursday, with a dinner meeting at the Pisgah Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, located at 3600 South Linwood Road in Gastonia, at 7 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Summer ville, 2050 Shannon Drive, Gastonia, campaign chairman for the Gastonia Chapter, and Mrs. J.C. McGill, 703 Hillside Drive, Kings Mountain, cam paign chairman for the Kings Mountain Chapter, have an nounced that Dr. J.A. Knight, Vice President and Dean of Er skine College, will be guest speaker. Towns included in the Gastonia Chapter and town chairmen are: Belmont and Cramerton—Mrs. Rowe Reese of Cramerton, chairman; Bessemer City and Dallas—Mr. Joseph O. Morgan of Dallas, chairman; and Gastonia—Ms. Mary L. Hendricks of Gastonia, chairman. Towns included in the Kings Mountain Chapter and their chairmen are: Boiling Spr ings and Shelby—Mr. and Mrs. David P. White of Shelby, chairmen; and Kings Moun tain—Mrs. W. Charles Blair of Kings Mountain, chairman. The Living Endowment will be attempting to surpass last year’s record of more than $260,000 in contributions. Altogether, the Living Endow ment has provided more than $4 million in current operating funds for Erskine over the past 25 years. The campaign has earned Er skine eight national awards in alumni giving from the U.S. Steel Foundation. More than 800 state, division, chapter, and town chairmen and workers nationwide are leading the 1980-81 campaign.
