9 O GED Tests Set Oct. 3 The monthly GED examina tion is scheduled at Cleveland Technical College on Fri., Oct. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will continue Sat., Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both sessions are required in order to complete the test. Any North Carolina adult 18 years of age or older is eligible to make application. The examination tests knowledge and understanding of correct writing skills, social studies, science, reading skills, and mathematics. Upon suc cessful completion of the ex amination the adult will be issued a high school diploma equivalency certificate by the NC Board of Education. Satisfactory^ scores are per manently on'file at the State GED office. Incomplete or un satisfactory scores are valid for re-testing for a five-year period. There is a $5.00 fee for the GED testing service. This fee is collected by Cleveland Tech’s Business Office at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3. The receipt along with proper identification will serve as admittance to the testing session. Applications to be tested or re tested must be made by Fri., Sept. 26, to Mrs. Rebecca Cook, or a staff member of the Learn ing Resources Center at Cleveland Technical College, 137 South Post Road, Shelby. BATTLE OF K»NGS MOUNTAih Treasurer Susan Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Anderson of Blacksburg, is serving as treasurer of the Student Council at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Miss Anderson is a 1977 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School, where she was director of the Pep Band and a recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award. In addition, she was named chairperson of the Inter-Club Council and vice- president of the Kings Mountain chapter of the National Honor Society. Presently a senior at Johns Hopkins, Miss Anderson is ma joring in psychology. While at tending the University, she has been a member of the women’s varsity fencing team and chairperson of the Student Ac tivities Commission. Thursday.
