Tyler Is One Year Old Tyler Toney, son of Hubert and Rita Toney of Chestnut Ridge Road, celebrated his first birthday Sept. 7th. Allyson’s mother is the former Debbie Ross. Clarence Whetstine was honored by his family at a retire ment dinner Saturday, Sept. 27th, at his home in Kings Mountain. Mr. Whetstine recently retired from J.P. Stevens Ragan Plant in Bessemer City after 35 years of employment. He is a native of Kings Mountain, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor Whetstine and is married to Geneva Wood Whetstine. He has three children and four grandchildren. Special guests and longtime friends attending the gathering included Mr. and Mrs. Plato Ledford. Out-of-town relatives who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Wood and daughter, Susan, and Frank Wood of Chattanooga, Tenn. Approximately 40 guests /;> brought covered dishes to the dinner and a cake decorated with champagne, glasses saying, "To Clarence, A Toast To Your Retirement,” was prepiared by Mr. Whetstine’s neice, Barbara Bridges.
