Sam Murphy, interment following in Bethlehem Cemetery. Mr. Lackey was a native of Cleveland County and a retired employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. of Akron, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his son, J. Robert Lackey of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, William A. Donna Stroupe Has Birthday Miss Donna Ann Stroupe, daughter of Della Louise Bur chfield Stroupe of Kings Moun tain and Michael Bolin Stroupe, celebrated her ISth birthday Fri day, Nov. 14th at her home. She is a Junior High student and a member of the In terdenominational Holiness Church. She is the grand daughter of Reuben Amos and Minnie Burchfield of Ohio and Ruth Bridges of Kings Moun tain. As a complete surprise to her, Donna’s aunt Mrs. Rosemary Toney, had this report published in today’s Herald. Workshop For Teachers A substitute teacher workshop will be held on Mon., Nov. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at the Kings Mountain District Schools office, 500 West Parker Street. In order to be a qualified substitute, a person must hold a high school diploma, participate in a substitute teacher workshop, and pass the Kings Mountain Competency Test. A person holding a valid Nonh Carolina teacher’s certificate is not re quired to take the local test. Museum Programj^Set. Journey w'th the ^h'iete Museum’s Living History Volunteers as they take us back over 200 years to history. On Sun., Nov. 23 from 1-6 p.m. the annual Colonial Thanksgiving will be reenacted at the Museum’s Log Cabin Site. This is an exciting presenta tion for the entire family. There are no admission fees. Farm-City Event Set Mrs. Kathryne Hamrick, who writes ‘The Farmer’s Wife” col umn for “The Cleveland Times,” will make the address at the Farm-City Week kickoff breakfast Fri., Nov. 21, at 7:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the County Office building in Shelby. Farmers will invite a businessman as guest for the breakfast and program. Joe Hamrick is chairman of the committee on cU'rangements. Cancer Film To Be Shown A program on “Breast Reconstruction,” filmed at Duke Hospital, will be featured by PM Magazine Tuesday and Wednes day nights at 7:30 p.ni. on Chan nel 3, WBTV. The volunteer patient in the film is Martha McNeill, a cancer volunteer from Cherryville. Mrs. Humes Houston, local chairman of the American Cancer Society’s “Reach to Recovery” program, urges all Kings Mountain citizens to view the special programs in cancer education. BENEFIT BARBECUE Cherokee St. BaiMist Church will sponsor a barbecue Friday beginning at 11 a.m. and all funds will be used to replace a stolen public address system for the church. Plates are S3 and carry out orders are invited by calling 739-7697. lEEP STOLEN Kings Mountain Police reported the breaking and enter ing of Nation Chevrolet over the weekend and the theft of a 1978 model jeep. ALUE MAE FULTON Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Mae Fulton, 84, of 106 Deal St., widow of Jason Dexter Fulton, will be conducted Tuesday mor ning at 11 o’clock from Boyce Memorial ARP Church of which she was a member. Rev. William Tyson will of ficiate at the rites and interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials to Boyce Memorial ARP Church Building Fund. Mrs. Fulton died Sunday mor ning in Kings Mountain Con valescent Center after several years illness. She was a native of Iredell County and was a retired saleslady. Surviving are her son, John Fulton of Omaha, Nebraska; • two daughters^ Mrs. Giles Corn- well of Sebastian, Fla. and Mrs. James Houser of Graham; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. Guyton Mitcham, 80, of Gaff ney, S.C., formerly of Kings Mountain, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 pjn. from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home by Rev. Gerald Weeks, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. MRS. Lll-LIE GUYTON MITCHAM Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mrs. Mitcham died Sunday in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. She was widow of Junious Lee Mithcam and a retired textile employee. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Kings Mountain. Surviving are four daughters, _ Mrs. Howard Haynes of Dari- W ington, S.C., Miss Cubie Lee Mitcham of Gaffney, S.C., Mrs. Austin Williams of Kings Moun tain and Mrs. Grant Bowman of Charlotte and 12 grandchil^en.
