Mrs. Barbara Mode, Super visor of Family and Children Services and Rev. Bob Davis made presentations of plaques to Mrs. Sarah Hogue for serving as a foster parent for 27 years and to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burgess for serving 130 children in the 21 years they have been foster parents. This was the first public ex pression of appreciation that has ever been given the foster parents of Cleveland County. There are a total of 49 families who serve as foster parents in Cleveland County. Sixty-five persons attended the dinner. Police Report Vandalism Kings Mountain Police are in vestigating several reports of larcenies and vandalism which occurred during the weekend. Jud Brown of Route 1, Cher- ryville, reported the theft of a battery valued at $50. Anthony Glenn of 1600 Nor- thwoods Dr. reported the wind shield of his car broken. Damage was estimated at $400. A 1978 Jeep was stolen during a break-in at Nation Chevrolet on S. Gavin 11, En vironmental Enforcement Of ficer with the N.C. Department of Natural Resources & Com munity Development. A pre-hearing conference will be held at the department’s Raleigh office in early December. Foote Mineral Company made the request for variances on May 19. Mr. Gavin said that represen tatives of the local company, in cluding its legal counsel, will be included in the conference with staff personnel and attorneys representing the department.
