The long Thanksgiving
weekend- holiday will end on
Monday, with students return

Most retail businesses will
take a holiday Thursday, in addi
tion to the Post Office and finan
cial institutions. Exceptions are
service stations, some grocery
stores and shopping centers.

Rhonda Bridges of 212 East
Texas Street, Bessemer City,
escaped possible injury Tuesday
night when she fled from a car
before it was hit by an ap
proaching train at the Kings
Mountain Depot crossing on
Piedmont Avenue.
Miss Bridges was driving a
1977 Ford, owned by Terry Calo
of Stanley, when, during a heavy
fog, she ran off the side of the
road and the car hung on the

railroad track.
She and a passenger attempted
the push the car off the tracks
but had to abandon it when the
train approached.
The car was damaged $2,000,
according to investigating of
ficers Mike Sanders and Bob
Hayes of KMPD.
The train’s conductor was
Claude Johnson Jr. of Route 2,
Easley, S.C.

Iwakuni.
