During the past five years the city received $1,040,000 during 1975, 1976, and 1977, received $468,000 in 1978 and $338,000 in 1979-80. “Our Neighborhood Strategy area for rehabilitation has been directed more toward low and moderate income groups with emphasis on housing and saving of existing hou.sing through rehabilitation”, said the Mayor. Reviewing the program, the Mayor said that the city initiated Community Development by improving its water producing capabilities, developing a storage capacity for water, and subse quently found their were many other needs. A home-ba.sed child care center was established at the Community Center, the Kings Mountain Development Office was set up and the KM Aging Program was established at the renovated Depot Center. Urban beautification and plann ing for a new City Hall were ex pressed in public meetings in which citizens gave input as to how the funds should be spent. Board Increases Cop Pay (From Page 1-A) The board set a 25 m.p.h. speed limit the entire length of Sims St. and set the date for the December meeting to be on Dec. 15th. Since the second meeting date falls on Dec. 22, the board voted to hold only one meeting during the month of December. The board went into executive session, returning at 9:25 p.m. to announce that recommendations from a Department head concer ning two employees had been discussed but that more informa tion was required before action Dance Class Is Scheduled The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring an adult basic beginners Square Dancing class in the Kings Mountain Neighborhood Facility Center. This class will cover basic steps and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 9:30 p.m. starting December 9 and ending January 29. Class will not meet during the Christmas Holidays. Pre-registration will be taken Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the office of the Kings Mountain Neighborhood Facility Center, 208 North Cleveland Avenue. Registration will also be taken the first night of class if space is , still available. Participants will be askef for a nominal $5.00 fee at the time of registration.
